It (ie the court verdict) won't make an iota of difference IMO, just like it didn't the first time around. Besides, from what I have read, even though it is not "official" yet, the court rejected that the book had been a hindrance to the "search" IIRC

And not to mention the fact that no one, except police states, have been able to control the internet. But lastly, I doubt anyone who wanted to read the book hasn't been given ample chance to do so in the last few years, so it is a fairly moot issue. And on that note, goodnight.

I agree with you entirely...when the book was first published there was a lot of interest in it.....now the mccanns  are no longer suspects and the uk papers reinforce that they have been cleared it is of little importance. Amaral has lost all credibility......it is impossible to police the internet but in this case I don't think it matters

You'd ban images now, just because you don't like them?

the good thing is that all the papers are promoting the McCanns as being cleared...that's what the general public are reading

The opinions of newspaper writers won't be enough mate. Reputation management cannot overcome the absence of evidence, and the writers have none.

I must be reading the wrong papers as I haven't seen anything about the McCanns or the trial result   @)(++(*

It would seem at the moment the only people who do actively support the McCanns are the media, who have a financial interest in the story [moderated]

Nice try davel.   When it comes to being cleared. what exactly do you mean?   Is it cleared of being negligent parents, cleared of a cover up or just cleared for the sake of it.  Maddie's whereabouts and what happened to her are unknown so aren't you being just a tad cynical??

I thought all that happened this week was that the judge booted out 60% of the McCanns claim and found in their favour in 40% and awarded damages for "distress" accordingly, with the defendants having the right of appeal. The decision was on a point of law as the judge interpreted it. I don't recall the case being anything to do with the McCanns innocence or guilt, that was outwith the terms of the writ being judged.

In truth this opens up some interesting questions about the law in Portugal.  A lower court bans the book and the appeal court uphold the ban only for it to be overturned by the supreme court and here we are yet again with a lower court banning it again.  Talk about the magic roundabout!

...or is it a case of, who dares wins?

I think you have missed the point of and the significance of the ruling of the Portuguese Court as far as the incredibility of Goncalo Amaral's assertions are concerned.

The highly experienced professional people who have gone through all the evidence in Madeleine McCann's case with a fine tooth comb ... have discounted his changing theories entirely (SY ~ PJ).
They have followed the evidence.

The Portuguese Court has listened to the separate evidence of allegations levelled against them and has found that Madeleine's parents have been defamed.

This is worldwide news ... and it has exonerated her parents from the unfounded allegations of culpability ... now all that remains is concentrating fully on what happened to Madeleine McCann.
Which is all that her parents have been trying to achieve since she vanished almost eight years ago.

So a bitter sweet victory for them ... but a victory.

Announcing their new investigation last month, police in the country said a review team had been working since March 2011 to look back through information from the original investigation.
They said this had uncovered potential new lines of inquiry,
which were separate from those being followed by the Met.

"All I'm going to say is that we've conducted a very serious investigation and there's no indication that Madeleine McCann's parents are connected to her disappearance. On the other hand, we have a lot of evidence pointing out that Christian killed her," Wolter told the "Friday at 9"....

Your link seems to be from 18 months ago, a long time in an investigation I'm sure you'll agree. Any idea how those ' new lines of enquiry' panned out ?
