I find it odd that the door was left open so a child barely 4 could roam the streets at night looking for mum and dad if she awoke being scared. Maybe it lost something in translation?

No ... I'm quite happy with it the way it is.

"All I'm going to say is that we've conducted a very serious investigation and there's no indication that Madeleine McCann's parents are connected to her disappearance. On the other hand, we have a lot of evidence pointing out that Christian killed her," Wolter told the "Friday at 9"....

it's lost most of it's meaning from your paraphrasing so god knows how much it's lost in translation...I wonder what kate's actual words were

So why do you believe the door remained unlocked?; or do you believe it was locked?

I don't know and I don't particularly care

I expect you are.

None of the doors were left open.

The patio door was not locked, but it was closed and overlooked by the tapas group from only about 50 metres away.

Had Madeleine exited that way a beam of light would have illuminated the railings when the curtains were pulled back and Madeleine would then have emerged onto the balcony/ patio in full view of the Tapas group.  She would have been bathed in light from the streetlamp immediately opposite.  She would also immediately have seen the Tapas friends right in front of her and yelled.

The road at the side is a very minor road, with very little traffick.  We stood and walked in the middle of the roadway, rather than on the path as I wanted to see things, weigh them up and photograph.

I cannot speak for the traffick in early May 2007, but we were there in June /July in 2010 .. and again last year, but in Sept IIRC.  There was more traffick in 2014 than in 2010.

The whole thing comes down to a false sense of security.   Had clients been better informed about the break-ins which had occurred in the complex they would then have been on their guard for the unexpected.  Sadly, the term duty of care by all parties was not a priority and a little girl has in all reality made the ultimate sacrifice because of it.

A malicious prosecution for a crime which never existed. An exposé of egregious malfeasance by public officials.
Indeed, the truth never changes with the passage of time.

Unfortunately the mccanns were offered services and declined, including of course a babysitter.

Which of course wouldn't have broken the bank.

In her interview for Woman`s Hour Dr K. McCann seems to feel that Madeleine would not walk out of the apartment.......no mention of leaving doors open for the purpose of the child getting out to find them ....... or the idea she might consider yelling across from the balcony to the restaurant if she did get out.

It was her friend Fiona whose rog. statement mentions Kate mulling over whether it was better for Madeleine to get out and find them, or wake distressed and find herself locked in.

*snip*

Jenny: 'What was your first thought, what did you think immediately had happened?' (Upon discovering that Madeleine wasn't there)

Kate: 'Well, obviously I kind of looked and double looked and, errm, you know, obviously, there was twenty seconds of, you know, she must be there (laughs). Errm, but there was no doubt in my mind within (laughs) probably thirty seconds, errm, that Madeleine had been taken from that room. I can't go into the reasons why I thought that but it was... no doubt whatsoever. And Madeleine wouldn't have walked out herself. I know that.'

Presumably all statements and interviews will have been gone over with a fine toothcomb with all discrepancies ironed out........ and any possibility of placing infants at risk by deliberate actions with the benefit of foresight dismissed.

OK let's just use the word unsecured.
Do you seriously believe that a four year old would yell loudly enough to be heard through a screen and the general hubbub of a restaurant?
Was there an unimpeded line of sight from the table to the balcony? Would anyone be looking permanently in that direction even if they could see? That seems to have been debated at length on here with no clear result.
I don't believe the density of traffic is relevant. How many vehicles do you need to bowl a child over.
So in your book it is OK to leave a toddler unattended for a few hours in an unsecured apartment with direct access to a public thoroughfare in unfamiliar foreign surroundings?

So they would have seen the abductor? all that looking and watching! they were only, ONLY too far away they never heard Maddie crying the previous night.            Beams of light lol

Maybe, just maybe, Maddie opened the shutters and window  herself and went out that way, a bit of an adventure if you like...

But no, the truth is the children were left unattended ,UNSEEN by the drinking parents from their table. And the checking was  not physical it was 'listening'  if they were so close to the children why did they have to leave the table at all? can't have it both ways now can you.

Declined in what way?  They actually refused a baby sitter, do you mean?  Someone offered them this service and they turned it down?

This is me, Stephen, so don't try it on me.  I can see dissemination at a hundred yards.

Are these comments from Silvia Batista of any worth ?

They seem to come from a series of interviews with MW staff..........link below.

*snip*

"The Technical Services Director of the Ocean Club resort, Silvia Batista, affirmed that the same night on which Madeleine disappeared, she in person offered child-minding services "because the hotel is responsible for its clients' children, but they rejected that". Madeleine was seen for the last time on the 3rd of May when she was sleeping next to her siblings in a rented room in a hotel in Praia da Luz, in the south of Portugal. The parents of the little girl are being questioned for having left her alone in that room in order to go to eat with some friends.

According to the director of the hotel, "every month registries of robberies in the area are kept, and we therefore advise the service of a child-minder", but even knowing this, Maddie's parents did not accept it. Batista confirmed in an interview with the website Globo.com that the hotel has been working from the start with the Police to find the little girl. The director added that the room used by the McCann family was closed the first two months, then was opened for 15 days, but was then closed once again. Also, the director of the resort pointed out that in the area there are "many inquisitive people, but they do not disrupt the routine of the place.

"We did not bear the blame for the disappearance of the little girl, it couldn't be said whose fault it was, but certainly not ours", assured the director and indicated that "the parents of the girl that night were very unconcerned", and there was no reason they should not have requested the service of a child-minder. "

So you are saying that The McCanns were personally offered a baby sitter for some inexplicable reason.  And that The McCanns were warned of Burglars in the area.

Okay.  I'll go along with that.  Despite no proof of this ever happening.

And The McCanns went to Chaplin's one night when there is no proof of that either.
