You talk as if they are making public appearances every day.     We've hardly heard a peep out of them for months.   The comments they have made have been about the present enquiry - saying they are pleased and grateful for SY's efforts.

Where is your evidence of a 'poor me' act and also your evidence that the GBP are tired of it?

The floor is yours - so let's hear it.

Read the comments sections. Simple.

Then tell me about the overwhelming support for the mccanns.

OK Benice.

How many missing people are there in the UK ?

Now multiply that number by £11,000,000 and see what you get. 8(0(*

What has that got to do with my post?    I take it you don't agree that whatever amount of cash it takes to investigate Ben's case should be made available - as required.

I'm sure the vast amount of experience/expertise etc etc gained by SY re dealing with foreign police forces as in the McCann case - which didn't exist beforehand  -  would now be invaluable to an investigation into Ben's abduction.  As would the technological advances which now exist - but did not when Ben disappeared.

I fully support Kerry Needham in wanting Ben's case to be given the same treatment as Madeleine's case - no matter what it costs.

In the scheme of things £12m doesn't even qualify as a teeny weeny drop in the ocean IMO.

The notion that innocence prevails over guilt – when there is no evidence to the contrary – is what separates civilization from barbarism.    Unfortunately, there are remains of barbarism among us.    Until very recently, it headed the PJ in Portimão. I hope he was the last one.

LOL.  You do understand that people with a gripe or complaint or who want a moan are far more likely to leave comments on a newspaper website than those who don't, don't you?  The Mail comments are representative of those people, not the GBP generally.

That's your opinion, and let's face it hardly surprising.

Well there are currently 1153 messages of support on the OFM's latest post.  These are members of the public aren't they?   So what does that prove?  Absolutely FA.

You really are so childish Stephen,  that isn't MOST people it's some of the people commenting on the Daily Mail,  most of them probably from the facebook forums set up to abuse the McCann family.

Did you miss the 12,000 comments from McCann supporters when the webmaster of OFM made her first statement?

So do I - she blames the authorities for their lack of action/support  both at the time and since Ben's disappearance.   She does not blame the McCanns - who she sympathises with completely.  She doesn't begrudge them a penny, she just wants the same for her own case - and who could blame her for that.

Ben's case is now being looked at again by our police -  and IMO there should be no ceiling on the amount of money required to fully investigate his case.   I have no doubt that the McCanns feel the same.

After all these years our police are investigating and have interviewed the gypsy family the Needhams identified and named to the Greek police many, many years ago.

A few years ago our police investigated and excavated areas near where Ben had been playing; that was repeated.

The police follow those leads it is possible for them to follow ... so in that respect, there remains far more leads available to them to be followed in Madeleine McCann's case ... and to investigate them fully, costs money.

Sandy Davidson who vanished when a toddler in 1976 has never been found.  Everything possible was checked at the time ... to going to Ireland to check out possible leads there.  Sandy's case was never closed but could only be worked while there was information to work it.
A man who was a child at the time contacted police with fresh information in 2015 which they have taken on board and hopefully Sandy's family might get some closure either way from that.
His sister, Donna, is associated with the charity Missing People.  Like the relatives of many other missing people it seems helping others as a result of their own experience seems to bring a measure of comfort.

Simply, what I am saying is that the police will follow what evidence there is to be followed in an attempt to resolve a case.

There was nothing for the police to follow until thirty years after Sandy's disappearance when they started looking at the fresh information they had been given.

They have checked out evidence twenty four years after the event in Ben's case. One wonders why the Greek police hadn't bothered.

They are actively involved in the investigation of the information available to them about Madeleine and checking that out to its conclusion.  That people object to that in some way is a mystery, but it takes all sorts, and using the case of one missing child as a weapon against another is in my opinion an exhibition of decidedly odd behaviour.
"All I'm going to say is that we've conducted a very serious investigation and there's no indication that Madeleine McCann's parents are connected to her disappearance. On the other hand, we have a lot of evidence pointing out that Christian killed her," Wolter told the "Friday at 9"....

It's not just my opinion, it's a generally held view - what's not surprising is that you refuse to accept it.

It's obvious from your deflective reply that you cannot supply the evidence I asked you for -  re a 'Pity me' act  which according to you is so excessive and ongoing that people are sick of it.       No surprises there then.

Well the classic instruction book repsonse from a mccann supporter.

I do here facebook will soon be incorporating 'dislikes' on comments.

By the way, 12,000 'likes' represents approx., 0.0178% of the population of the UK.

Nice.

Exactly Alfred,   Stephen never misses a chance to report on the comments of the newspapers,   dear oh dear.

I don't need to read any comment page associated with any article at all about Madeleine McCann.

I have read them all time after time before.

That they appear to count among their successes the closure of what had the potential to be a useful twitter account disseminating information about current cases as well as fulfilling their prime objective and the stirring up of dissent to include alleged disharmony between the families of a missing child and a missing person portrays them as sad - sad - sad.

**Snip
Some newspaper reports this week suggested there was a dispute between the Find Madeleine Campaign and the family of Ben Needham, who is believed to have been abducted on the Greek island of Kos in 1991.

McCann family spokesman Clarence Mitchell said: "Kate and Gerry McCann have always supported the campaign to find Ben Needham, indeed they have promoted it on their Find Madeleine Campaign social media platforms.

"However, it is a great pity that due to continued, ill-and abusive comments by some social media users, the decision has been taken to discontinue the Find Madeleine Twitter account.

"Kate and Gerry continue to wish Ben's mother, Kerry, all the best and they hope that she will one day be reunited with Ben, just as they, similarly, continue to hope that they will be reunited with Madeleine."
