So do I - she blames the authorities for their lack of action/support both at the time and since Ben's disappearance. She does not blame the McCanns - who she sympathises with completely. She doesn't begrudge them a penny, she just wants the same for her own case - and who could blame her for that.
Ben's case is now being looked at again by our police - and IMO there should be no ceiling on the amount of money required to fully investigate his case. I have no doubt that the McCanns feel the same.
After all these years our police are investigating and have interviewed the gypsy family the Needhams identified and named to the Greek police many, many years ago.
A few years ago our police investigated and excavated areas near where Ben had been playing; that was repeated.
The police follow those leads it is possible for them to follow ... so in that respect, there remains far more leads available to them to be followed in Madeleine McCann's case ... and to investigate them fully, costs money.
Sandy Davidson who vanished when a toddler in 1976 has never been found. Everything possible was checked at the time ... to going to Ireland to check out possible leads there. Sandy's case was never closed but could only be worked while there was information to work it.
A man who was a child at the time contacted police with fresh information in 2015 which they have taken on board and hopefully Sandy's family might get some closure either way from that.
His sister, Donna, is associated with the charity Missing People. Like the relatives of many other missing people it seems helping others as a result of their own experience seems to bring a measure of comfort.
Simply, what I am saying is that the police will follow what evidence there is to be followed in an attempt to resolve a case.
There was nothing for the police to follow until thirty years after Sandy's disappearance when they started looking at the fresh information they had been given.
They have checked out evidence twenty four years after the event in Ben's case. One wonders why the Greek police hadn't bothered.
They are actively involved in the investigation of the information available to them about Madeleine and checking that out to its conclusion. That people object to that in some way is a mystery, but it takes all sorts, and using the case of one missing child as a weapon against another is in my opinion an exhibition of decidedly odd behaviour.
