How long was the twins hair in September you mean,  that's when the McCann's had them tested,  they would only need four centimetres to test for four months.

They wouldn't have had it done if there was no point in it.

No.

How long was it in May and was it cut in that time.

If they had short hair at the time and it was cut......

I don't recall the twins having a hair cut,  I remember Amelie having bunches in her hair.   A drug would be at the root of the hair so even if they did have a trim doubt if it would have removed the hair which would have had the drug in it.

It was the lawyer talking about these tests as they were compiling a dossier against Amaral,   I doubt very much if they would include these test results if they weren't genuine results.

Precise facts are needed.

Drugs metabolize at different rates. Likewise, some are retained longer than others.

Most anaesthetics would be untraceable after 90 days, as I stated.

Also, how would you know about the twins haircuts or style ?

The McCanns became preoccupied with establishing their own innocence (of doping the twins) only after they had been accused.

Why would they be concerned about that before?

Which puts the tests undertaken on return to the uk nearer 120 days...all rather confusing

I also dont understand Smethursts comment, ie if you have 8 cms of hair you can test for use as far back as 8 months?

Additionally, if only 1.5" (3.8cm)  from root is valid, thats a max of just under 4 months

Talk of possible sedation was around very early on....before sept 07

Kate said she did ask the police to check the twins.   The fact that they slept through everything was also passed on to the police,   why didn't they test them?

Kate and Gerry had the twins tested for drugs back in the UK they were clear.

Kate wrote in her book that she had raised her concerns regarding the twins unresponsive state on the night of the 3/4th May yet not one witness verifies this. Not her best friend Fiona who was with her all night, not Silvia Batista who would have to have translated the conversation nor any of the police officers on duty that night. Not even Gerry mentions his wife's concern. Of course the McCanns did ask the English FLO a few days later whether any drug had been used to facilitate the abduction but I think you'll agree that falls way short of actually asking that their remaining children be tested.

I believe that Pavia also testified in Lisbon that Kate, while Gerry was away, requested that the twins be tested for drugs, a request that was withdrawn as soon as Gerry returned to PDL.

One person did phone the PJ in Aug 2007 and request they do drug tests on the two children, but allegedly later that same day another person phoned and cancelled the request.

The private company reportedly took hair samples for testing on 24 Sept.
About 4.7 months after 3 May.
Assume growth rate is 1 cm per month (Source: KM book page 274).
The tests would be useful if hair length was over 4.7cm on 24 Sept.

What were you saying about scientists?

It was a scientist who did the test on the hair.    The scientist wouldn't have done it if he/she didn't think it worthwhile.

The Police were able to establish that Shannon Mathews parents had been drugging her for at least 20 months by doing drug tests on her hair.   I don't doubt what Smethurst says at all.

If the twins had a trim it would have made no difference.

In my opinion the tests wouldn't have been asked for if there was no point doing them.

A trim would have been the length of their hair before 3rd of May wouldn't it?
