The McCanns are both qualified doctors and were well aware that had the twins been sedated or tranquilized that chemical traces could have been detected in their hair.  Given that they were concerned from a very early stage that the twins might have been interfered with I cannot understand their reluctance to have them tested immediately.

Kate mentions in her book that she asked  the police on the night of the 3rd for the twins to be tested.

Also the British Police liaison officer mentioned in his statement that the McCann's wanted the twins tested, I think that was on the Sat. 5th May

Who said that they were reluctant to have their hair tested?

Were they ever tested?

Also one of the Police Officers as one of the odd things the McCann's did in his statement was to ask for the twins to be tested.    Odd?

What I think and this is just my opinion,   I think Kate told the police about her concerns but the police [who remember one said in his statement he didn't think it was an abduction]   just thought she was an hysterical mother,  they thought at the time Madeleine had just wandered out of the apartment.   So I wouldn't be surprised if he just ignored what she said.

I wouldn't have blamed him.  He probably thought what a pair of fcuking tossers!

What ever he thought in my opinion he did nothing about it.

Apparently not. But who said that the parents were reluctant? And how does that make sense, when two FLOs mentioned in their statements that that was one of the first things that the McCanns wanted to be checked out?

Strange like so many things in the case of missing Maddie.  Had they been so concerned they could have had analysis done at any time independent of the Portuguese police.  Maybe they did have and it came up negative?  Another DEAD end!!

Not exactly. Quite a different question actually;

They also wanted to know whether the PJ had any evidence that would suggest that the person who took Madeleine had used any substance to facilitate the abduction.

Any more FLO statements to quote? Why people don't read what they say I can't imagine.

Gerry and Kate also questioned whether there was any suggestion that pointed to the use of drugs to facilitate Madeleine's abduction.

It was only a question that they asked in view of the fact that 2-year-old twins didn't wake up despite the amount of noise.

A normal question to think of as a possibility, IMO.

Reality may be that they were simply exhausted after nearly a week of fun-filled activities.

Hacks with nothing else to do were all over the case - they even managed to fabricate that Madeleine's biological father was an anonymous sperm donor to a Birmingham lab. If the McCanns had had the twins tested privately early on... wouldn't that have also appeared in the media? The money flying about back then for scoops appears to have been extremely tempting.

If they had had the twins tested early on and it came up negative... how would that fit in with a non-abduction scenario? Why do so in the first place, having asked the police to check whether a sedative could have been used?

Yes and that could mean also,  that they wanted to know if the twins could have been drugged couldn't it? quote - to facilitate the abduction,  meaning Madeleine and the twins.

The fact is the McCann's continually mentioned that they thought Madeleine could have been drugged yet they did nothing.

There must have been a reason why they didn't have the twins tested in Portugal,  they asked enough times.   They had them tested more or less as soon as they arrived back in the UK.

There must have been a reason why they didn't have the twins tested in Portugal

and what do you think that could possibly be ....unless they knew something

they were there parents fgs....one has gone ....and not one ..but two babies ...in deep sleep

why didn't she try to arouse them ...i mean you are already in panic mode ...maddie gone ...it doesn't matter who they mentioned it to ....they should have acted immediately ....the parents ....a blood test anything ...to make sure they were ok ...and not going to have a delayed reaction ...

its not as if they had anything more important to do like searching ...the phone calls could have been left to someone else .....you cannot keep blaming the pj ...for what the mccs failed to do ....over ...and ...over ...again...to protect there children ...it is there job ...etc ...to keep there children safe ...the responsibility ..is theres alone ....and they failed ..tragically as it is .

I for one am  not going to accuse the McCann's of not wanting their twins to be safe,   I am sure that Kate was well aware of how the twins were doing,  I doubt very much if she wanted them to die of a drug over dose do you?

They picked them up to take them to their friends apartment,   it is said if a person moves voluntarily during shaking or pushing then they are just in a deep sleep and not unconscious,  they are Drs. no doubt they knew if the twins were in a dangerous situation.

To say that Kate McCann would have let her twins die is a dreadful thing to say.

But the conversation would have to have been translated yet Silvia Batista makes no mention of such a conversation. Neither does Fiona Payne who was with her all night. Can you imagine the fuss that would have been kicked up by the McCanns if the police officers on the scene had ACTUALLY done nothing after Kate, notice not Gerry, voiced her concerns ?
