On  the  night  Madeleine  was  taken,  you  may remember,  Gerry and  I had  been very concerned  that Sean  and  Amelie  had  hardly  moved  in  their  cots,  let alone  woken  up,  despite the  commotion in the apartment.  Since  Madeleine  was  snatched apparently  without  making  a  sound,  we  had  always suspected that all three  children  might  have  been sedated  by  the  abductor.  We  mentioned  this  to  the police  that  night  and  several  more  times  in  the folowing  weeks,  but  no  testing  of  urine,  blood  or hair,  which  could  have  revealed  the  presence  of drugs,  had  ever  been  done.  Apparently,  hair  grows at  a  rate  of  approximately  1cm  per  month,  so  it  was possible  that  hair  samples  taken  even  four  months later  could  provide  us  with  additional  information.  It was  worth  a  shot,  at  least.  I asked  for  samples  of  my own hair to be taken as well simply  because  I  was fed  up  with  the  constant  insinuations  that  I  took tranquilizers, sleeping pills  or  any  medication,  for that  matter. The process seemed to take ages and we all  lost loads  of  hair.  I  couldn’t  believe  they  had  to  take  so much.  The  scientist  cut  chunks  of  it  from  Sean  and Amelie’s  heads  while  they  were  sleeping.  I cried  as  I heard  the  scissors  in  their  baby-blond  hair.  I  felt angry  that  the  children  had  to  go  through  this  further insult.  As  for  me,  I  looked  as  if  I  had  alopecia.Though  I  cursed  the  abductor  and  the  PJ,  I  had bigger  things  to  worry about. All the  hair  samples  produced  negative  results. While this didn’t totally  exclude  the  possibility  that  the children had been sedated, especialy given the  time that  had  elapsed,  it  meant  nobody else  (including  the PJ  and  the  media)  could  prove  otherwise.  It  also confirmed  that  I didn’t  ‘abuse’  sedative  medication.  It is  sad  that  we  had  to  go  to  such  lengths  to demonstrate this; sadder still  that  such  tests  weren’t carried  out  at  the  time.

now who's fault is this .......

It is  sad  that  we  had  to  go  to  such  lengths  to demonstrate this; sadder still  that  such  tests  weren’t carried  out  at  the  time.

as it was said earlier ....there is no proof of any of this ......

but notice the reasons given for it......basically an attempt ..to give her unproven explanation ....and to shut the media up....

not .....any of it ...for the twins safety .....and as for being angry for what she put them them through ...wellll..

poor maddie .... ...what did she put her through............

Kate shut the insinuations up didn't she.   No thought for the twins safety?   it was about four to five months later, the twins were healthy normal children.

What Kate put Madeleine through?   what are you insinuating?     The McCann's made a stupid decision for which they live with,  the person who took her is the person who is responsible for what ever is happening to Madeleine, or doesn't this person matter?

You do not know who took her, let alone if there was an abductor.

That is a matter of opinion.

One only has to look at gerry mccanns face to see how much he enjoys being in the public eye.

IMHO Naturally.

Well he was crying in that link I give you.

How does someone look when they are trying to face the camera talking about the child they have lost?   You obviously think they enjoy it,  that being in the public eye is preferable to having their child back with them, what a strange belief.

I believe Goncalo Amaral's life was a bit of a car crash before the McCann family ever set foot in Portugal.

now you don't know that sweetie .....same as we don't know what the mccs life was like

they certainly ruined it now   though .through no fault of his own...and others

what happens to them.........is there own doing....

Amaral lived like a star ?

Cobblers.

What do you think the mccanns have been doing ?

Do you really believe that Stephen?  I'm very sure they would gladly swap it all and the Fund to have Maddie back.

Please don't patronise me.    What ever is happening to Madeleine as I said before, is not the fault of the McCann's but the fault of who ever took her.

I don't know what has happened to Madeleine,  and neither with respect do you.   As for living with a family [illegal adoption]    it is more common than you think.    Ben Needham's mother was told that Ben could have been  taken for illegal adoption,   so don't be so quick to presume.

As Stephen pointed out there is no proof that anyone took her so the apportionment of blame is as yet undetermined.

Kate hadn't written her book when she brought up the possibility of drug use with the PJ in May 2007- so I don't see the relevance to my point that if the McCanns had sedated the children - they would not have wanted to say anything which would draw attention to it and risk being discovered.   To do so voluntarily when they had no need to would mean they were very stupid people IMO.

However, with regard to your opinion of why she wrote her book - imo her book would have to be crammed full of lies and disinformation for it to have been written for the purpose you claim.   The fact that not one of the huge amount of people she mentions in her ' innocent explanations'' to provide what you think is a cover up - have disputed, or complained, or sued her over the book's content should tell you something imo.

I can find no evidence that the bold allegation happened.

As Stephen pointed out there is no proof that anyone took her so the apportionment of blame is as yet undetermined.

And as Stephen also often says   -   ''Remind me'' who SY and the Oporto team have determined are not to blame and so have ruled them out of the investigation?

Anyone who wants to claim that situation no longer applies - needs to cite their evidence.   Until they do people are entitled to point out that neither the McCanns nor their friends are suspects or even persons of interest to the police when it comes to who took Madeleine from 5A.

The notion that innocence prevails over guilt – when there is no evidence to the contrary – is what separates civilization from barbarism.    Unfortunately, there are remains of barbarism among us.    Until very recently, it headed the PJ in Portimão. I hope he was the last one.

Why did Amaral mention testing the twins in his book?

Hindsight? There's no evidence the PJ discussed it until Kate mentioned it to Paiva.

We seem to be going round in circles now G.   As previously mentioned the evidence that the subject was brought up is in a statement by a FLO.

But not all believed them

MONDAY, MAY 14: I slept well last night after a not very good end of the day, frustration with the FLO (Portuguese police family liaison officer) asking me where would my little M be.

Smithman carrying a child in his arms checked his watch after passing the Smith family and the time was 10:03. Both are still unidentified 10 years later.
