I believe Goncalo Amaral's life was a bit of a car crash before the McCann family ever set foot in Portugal.

now you don't know that sweetie .....same as we don't know what the mccs life was like

they certainly ruined it now   though .through no fault of his own...and others

what happens to them.........is there own doing....

Actually we do have a fairly good idea of what the Drs McCann lives were like as every aspect has been forensically examined on one forum or another.

Mr Amaral's marital and extra marital difficulties cannot be laid the the McCann door.

Similarly the considerable debts incurred in legal expenses due to his failed criminal prosecution for defamation of Leonor Cipriano's lawyer Marcos Aragão Correia and university professor António Pedro are nothing to do with the McCann family.

His financial difficulties which saw his brother suing him for fraud cannot be attributed in any way whatsoever to the McCann family.

The Drs McCann had nothing whatsoever to do with the suspicions which followed him regarding the torture of Leonor Cipriano and his subsequent criminal conviction for covering up evidence.

Being passed over for promotion as attested by his wife was no fault of the Drs McCann, nor was his indebtedness to the Portuguese tax authorities.

As I said ... a car crash ... and I think there is much more, the 'golden bullet' episode for example being confirmed by none other than Joanna Morais, I believe.

As co-ordinator of the investigation into Madeleine McCann's disappearance it is not surprising he failed to oversee diligences such as ensuring the checking of the twins had been independently carried out ... particularly as he may have been slightly distracted by being made an arguido on the 4th.
"All I'm going to say is that we've conducted a very serious investigation and there's no indication that Madeleine McCann's parents are connected to her disappearance. On the other hand, we have a lot of evidence pointing out that Christian killed her," Wolter told the "Friday at 9"....

Amaral made it clear why the tests weren't done and why they got a free ride. With all the world wide media interest in Luz, they didn't want to put any suspicions on the parents of the missing child.

“The McCanns have completely changed the way we now look for missing children—it used to be you go to the police; now it means you go to the media, to celebrities,” says a disapproving Scotland Yard specialist in abused children.
Smithman carrying a child in his arms checked his watch after passing the Smith family and the time was 10:03. Both are still unidentified 10 years later.

And as Stephen also often says   -   ''Remind me'' who SY and the Oporto team have determined are not to blame and so have ruled them out of the investigation?

Anyone who wants to claim that situation no longer applies - needs to cite their evidence.   Until they do people are entitled to point out that neither the McCanns nor their friends are suspects or even persons of interest to the police when it comes to who took Madeleine from 5A.

You haven't being paying attention, the crime is unknown.

Yes we have already seen that quote in context.  Like everything else in Mr Amaral's book it is total nonsense.  He was the man in charge.  He was the man whose place it was to ensure the investigation was conducted discretely and without prejudice.

What a pity it was that he was too small a man to overcome his own personal prejudice as illustrated by his book, documentary and media interviews and do his job.

He was in charge.  He acknowledges a mistake was made in not testing the twins ... the mistake was his in not ensuring it was done.

Not only that Stephen, it isn't even known if a crime occurred.
A malicious prosecution for a crime which never existed. An exposé of egregious malfeasance by public officials.

It wasn't useless and futile,  if there is enough hair, and Amelie's hair was long enough, drugs can be found months later.

I think that would be  the type of sedation used too,  Chloroform,   he could even have waved it in front of the twins noses.  The twins were sleeping in a crouched position,  on their front with knees drawn up,  although I know some children sleep like this normally,  it could be that the twins woke up,  had something waved in front of their noses and both slumped down into that position, just a tiny bit to make them sleep for a bit.

Waving a chloroform soaked cloth under someone's nose? Might put them down for a few seconds, that's all. The Crime section tested for the aroma of chloroform and ether, remember.

Guess what.  The Policia Judiciaria have reviewed the files from 2007 ~ 2008 and have progressed beyond them to a fresh investigation involving abduction.

Similarly Scotland Yard have reviewed the files from 2007 ~ 2008 and are conducting an investigation into abduction.

The mistakes made by the first and most important investigation such as squandering the vital golden hours after a child is reported missing and the failure to test the twins are all over and done with never to be undone.

Madeleine remains missing.

There is no evidence that Madeleine is dead.

But in any case whatever you consider the status of the crime may be the PJ and SY seem to be concentrating their resources on stranger abduction.

Since you know nothing ... and they are in possession of the facts ... I'm just going to go with their knowledge and expertise ... and they seem to have decided the A word is what happened ... so that is good enough for me.

They checked Madeleine's bed,  that doesn't stop someone putting it over her nose as he picks her up does it?

Do you really believe that Stephen?  I'm very sure they would gladly swap it all and the Fund to have Maddie back.

I'm sure they want Madeleine back , though by now IMO it  isn't going to happen.

However, having watched gerry mccann , such as with the interview with Paxman, he craves the limelight.

Though in the last  couple of years he has largely disappeared from public view.

The Drs McCann have achieved their aim of having Madeleine's case reopened and the investigation into her disappearance resumed.

There has therefore been no necessity for her father to seek publicity on her behalf.

Was this before or after he opened the shutters and window to get rid of the smell? As the wind was blowing into the room would this have dissipated the smell or just blown it into the living area? Did it take place after Matthew's check? If before he would surely have noticed and possibly recognised the distinctive aroma. If after then wouldn't Kate have noticed it?

That's as maybe but until someone is arrested, charged and convicted the ruling document is the archiving report which states they cannot state "what if any crime has been committed" or words to that effect.

Not true.

Correia was employed by metado 3 and they were employed by the mccanns.

Metado3 could not organizer a 'p' up in a Brewery.

As to Correia, used his psychic skills to predict the fate of Madeleine.
