Yes we have already seen that quote in context.  Like everything else in Mr Amaral's book it is total nonsense.  He was the man in charge.  He was the man whose place it was to ensure the investigation was conducted discretely and without prejudice.

What a pity it was that he was too small a man to overcome his own personal prejudice as illustrated by his book, documentary and media interviews and do his job.

He was in charge.  He acknowledges a mistake was made in not testing the twins ... the mistake was his in not ensuring it was done.

Hyperbole runnng away with itself there?

Ps How many times do you have to be told Amaral wasnt a one man bandit, there was a whole p o l i c e  t e a m as well as the Public Minstry and some others wth meddling little and not so little paws that probably "harmed the investigation"

Your contempt and desperate demonisation is laughable.

I completely agree.

The mccann supporters appear to be in a hole, so blame Amaral for everything, and not the two people they should do for this whole case.

Not true.

Correia was employed by metado 3 and they were employed by the mccanns.

Metado3 could not organizer a 'p' up in a Brewery.

As to Correia, used his psychic skills to predict the fate of Madeleine.

What isn't true?

Are you in denial that Goncalo Amaral did not sue and lose his defamation trial against Leonor Cipriano's lawyer Marcos Aragão Correia and university professor António Pedro.

Strange, since you were involved in discussion of it

The lawyer Marcos Aragão Correia and university professor António Pedro Dores were acquitted yesterday, the Court of Faro, the crime of defamation action brought by a former judicial police inspector Goncalo Amaral. The defendants were also acquitted of the claim of € 3,000. Gonçalo Amaral was sentenced to pay court costs.

Just another one of his failures to put alongside all the others inclusive of, by his own admission, his mistake in not ensuring the twins were checked after their sister went missing.
"All I'm going to say is that we've conducted a very serious investigation and there's no indication that Madeleine McCann's parents are connected to her disappearance. On the other hand, we have a lot of evidence pointing out that Christian killed her," Wolter told the "Friday at 9"....

Amaral claims €3,000 for defamation, the McCanns claim €1,500000. You can see where the interest in money lies.

@Faithlilly
I can't find the cite for my statement re. GM asking for specialist dogs before MH was called in, so I concede that point for now. (although I have a vague recollection of discussing it elsewhere several months ago)

Thank you Pegasus! I'm not as mad as I thought & I know that request was recorded somewhere in all the early reports so I need to search again.

Perhaps they should have researched how 'incredibly unreliable' the dogs are first? They didn't have much luck with their 'suggestions', did they? They suggested sedation of the children and ended up being accused of administering it themselves.

According to Amaral.     Pity he had to resort to lying in his book about the properties of Calpol, and then lie again about what Kate's father had said on the subject of Calpol in order to convince his readers.   Not to mention the nasty inuendo about the twins suffering from sedative withdrawal problems.      Inexcusable dishonesty IMO.

The notion that innocence prevails over guilt – when there is no evidence to the contrary – is what separates civilization from barbarism.    Unfortunately, there are remains of barbarism among us.    Until very recently, it headed the PJ in Portimão. I hope he was the last one.

I think you'll find it was mentioned before Amaral's book came out. Why would Kate McCann have herself and the twins tested in 2007 if the allegations only appeared in Amaral's book in 2008?

The allegations appeared before publication of Amaral's book.

Amaral's book carried the allegations.

The allegations were already in the public domain.

Kate was keen to counter malicious falsehood.

Why do you have a problem with that?
