The most outrageous things in this case is clearly the parents own actions of leaving their very young children in an unsecured apartment and tampering of the crime scene before the police arrived. Never mind not calling the police asap knowing she was abducted but deleting history logs instead within a 24 hour period of the police examining their phones. Instead of clearing up these abnormal behaviours by later answering all questions they hide behind their lawyers and leave Portugal.

This is a disgrace - the only question answered by the mother - bet her lawyer didn't tell her to answer this one.

Q.  Are you aware that in not answering the questions you are jeopardising the investigation, which seeks to discover what happened to your daughter?

A.  'Yes, if that’s what the investigation thinks.'

Advised by her lawyer to remain silent,   they were trying to twist things,   Kate knew this and if they had arrested her and Gerry,   who would be out there leading the search for Madeleine?   No one!!   They would pack the case up and that would be that.    Kate did the right thing IMO the right thing to keep Madeleine in the public eye and keep the search on going.

What was it Murat said when they were questioning him?   'He didn't want to hear the truth,   he said I didn't get you today but I'll get you tomorrow'.

That has to be a classic example of Chinese whispers...

It's outrageous that the McCann's and friends were told to keep silent with the threat of imprisonment,  yet all those leaks drifted through.

Corrected,  no Leeks were guilty

Everyone has a legal right to remain silent. I have never seen an innocent individual use it.

Colin Stagg certainly did and I'm sure there must be others.

I sometimes wonder that if she had believed that the files were going to be published whether she would have answered those questions.

Did 'Team McCann leak or not? The parents and friends didn't say much publicly but the initial media storm was caused by them and their friends and relatives.

4th May

Fears grow that Madeleine has been taken against her will and her parents accuse the Portuguese police of not doing enough to find her.

5th May

Madeleine's aunt Philomena McCann criticises the Portuguese police, claiming they had played down her disappearance and were being "uncommunicative".

"I have never seen..." Is not citable.

Sorry?  is that another new rule???

An assertion has been made.  If it is impossible to substantiate it should not be displayed on the board in the form it is in.
"All I'm going to say is that we've conducted a very serious investigation and there's no indication that Madeleine McCann's parents are connected to her disappearance. On the other hand, we have a lot of evidence pointing out that Christian killed her," Wolter told the "Friday at 9"....

No, just common sense. If A poster says they have never seen something it should be taken as a fact unless you are calling the poster a liar. However, never having seen something does not mean it couldn't have happened.

You right Slarti. I'm sure it does occasionally happen but I have been interested in miscarriages of justice since a teenager and I have yet to see one innocent person not willing to answer the police questions put to them.
