That's why she raised her concerns with the police, who promptly ignored her concerns.  Now tell me that we only have Kate's word for it that she told the police, but kindly also tell me how sensible you think it would be to go on record as saying you told the police something if you didn't.  The police would use that as evidence that you were a bare-faced liar wouldn't they?  Amaral could have had a field day with it, but didn't as far as I can  recall.  I wonder why not?

Well, perhaps Amaral was writing a book, and didn't feel he needed to put absolutely everything in it, and maybe he wasn't out to get the parents as you and your fellow abductee believers constantly claim. He wrote a thesis.  you  would think the man was the bloody abductor by what you read about him on here-should we suspect Amaral complicit  in Maddies disappearance status? Should we believe the pj and Amaral 'did nothing' according to the family back home in the UK to find little Maddie. The venom levelled at Amaral and the PJ , while commending the parents is quite nauseating, and strange.

The police would use it how ? The case was shelved and I'm sure the Portuguesr police, and Amaral,  had more to do with their time than worry about the veracity of Kate's claims.

Perhaps you could provide one cite that verifies Kate's claim ?

The police didn't mention it.
Silvia Batista didn't mention it.
Gerald McCann didn't mention it.
Fiona Payne didn't mention it.
The media didn't mention it.

If Kate McCann had mentioned her concern to the police and they had ignored her one of the above would have said something.

Are you kidding?!  He made a whole career out of doubting the veracity of Kate's claims in case you hadn't noticed!!

So what are you saying?  That Kate has lied in her book about this?  Because that's very much what it sounds like to me.  Do you seriously think it's a good idea to tell the world lies about what you said to the police, who will know straight away that you are lying?

I am saying it's an unconfirmed claim. It's not confirmed by the police officers or by the interpreter. Relatives and friends were told immediately about the shortcomings of the police, but none of them mentioned how concerned the McCanns were about the twins and how the police ignored their concerns.

Yet strangely Amaral knew about it.

I read the start of Amaral's book the other day and he says he kept in contact with the investigation,  reading the reports the following morning [5th of May] and ringing up and making sure he was up to date with everything going on.

Are you going to tell me he wasn't told about the twins?   The Police Officer mentioned it in his statement though it was made Oct. I believe.   It was what he had acknowledged when he was at 5a on the night of the 3rd of May.

Amaral says in his book he thought about testing the twins,   well when did he think about it?   He says he didn't because it would have been 'jury by the public'   well, that is ridiculous to start with,  but it seems that it was before he accused the McCann's of hiding Madeleine's body so that was earlier than three months.

I'm sorry but in my opinion,   Amaral knew about the twins from word go.

No need to apologise, you're entitled to your opinion. The evidence to support it doesn't exist however.

Can you for one minute picture the scene on the 3rd of May?   It IS relevant how the McCann's were feeling after finding Madeleine missing as I would imagine the scene was one of chaos.

There was Kate out of her mind with worry about Madeleine and on the other hand worried about the twins,  a lot must have been going on in her head.   Kate remembered the stain on Madeleine's pyjama's and to her that was relevant.

Fiona on the other hand was consoling and trying to calm her down by the sound of it,  going by Fiona's statement,  she said the twins were fine.

So you have in the middle of the Police taking notes about what happened,   Kate asking for the twins to be tested for drugs.

Did anyone take her seriously?

They at the time were thinking Madeleine had wandered out of the apartment,   the Police Officer said that he didn't think it was an abduction in his statement.   Could it be that he did hear Kate but brushed it off,  but still mentioned it to Amaral as he did put it in his statement about the twins sleeping through everything.

The others didn't mention it as the twins were ok,   they may have thought that Kate had been acting irrationally as she was after all traumatised.

Is there ANYTHING about sedation in the first round of Tapas 9 statements (4 May 2007).  Is there ANYTHING about sedation in the second round of statements (roughly 10 days later)?  If there is, please cite.

If not, no-one in the group thought that potential sedation was any sort of important possibility.  At least, not at that time, at the time when the PJ was taking statements about everything the group thought was significant.

Kate raised it with the police?  Did she?  Given that we have no record of her telling the police, all that one has to do is get a statement from every single Portuguese police officer, of which there were dozens, stating categorically that they were NOT informed by Kate.  Even after that, no court in any land would accept this as proof that the telling did not happen.

So it is a claim that cannot be disproved, and there was not then any possibility in the slightest that "The police would use that as evidence that you were a bare-faced liar wouldn't they?"  Nor that "Amaral could have had a field day with it, but didn't as far as I can  recall.  I wonder why not?"

Why "wonder why not" when the answer is both straight forward and obvious?

What on earth state did these people think Kate was in?  She was probably having trouble breathing herself.  But she had five other Doctors around her.  What more could a hospital have done, wherein it was unlikely that they would have understood English?

I despair sometimes.  There is no logic in assuming that Kate had sedated the twins herself, and given them an overdose.  While there was always a possibility that an Abductor had.

I would like a cite for the bold bit because I don't think she said it.

All the rest is fine except that Kate tells us that bothshe and Gerry were 'very concerned'. Not just parents but doctors are 'very concerned' about their children but allegedly allow the police to brush their concerns aside?

Quite so - to dismiss the state of total shock  they were in at the time - as if it shouldn't have affected them in any way is totally unrealistic.   They would be out of their minds with worry.

Also Kate was very health conscious - especially about their diet.    Would a mother who regarded  a Rich Tea biscuit as a major treat also casually pump sedatives into their systems night after night to any extent -  let alone to the extent that she overdosed them?  That makes no sense to me.

Children will sleep through all kinds of horrendous noise  - and it's known that the twins slept like logs anyway.  IMO this was an example of just that  - but in the immediate aftermath  of what had just happened - it would be a natural to wonder if on this occasion it was because they may have been drugged.

It seems to me that the twins must have woken up the next day behaving perfectly normally and showing no signs of anything untoward and so that would considerably lessen the parents'  anxiety  -  but would not completely dispel the suspicion that drugs may have been used.    And that is why they made enquiries via their FLO asking whether the PJ forensics had found any evidence of drug use.

When they were both in a state of collapse.  And The Twins were both fine next morning.  And then they were both being questioned about the total disappearance of their eldest daughter.

What were their priorities, do you think?
