In typical fashion this thread has turned from "Was the PJ's biggest mistake not testing the twins straight away?" into "The McCanns are shit parents", just like pretty much every other thread on this forum.  Some people never tire of their favourite sport do they?

If you think that the sceptic's importance is the only reason that Kate would want to refute their arguments and opinion, what does that say for the motives of the supporters on here.

P.S. Why sceptics in inverted commas?
No, that is not what I think, I think you have completely misunderstood.
I'll tell you why I put "sceptics" in inverted commas when you explain your signature line, deal?

Really? They have seemed more interested in remaining close the investigation. In fact they have seemed to want to direct the investigation from the moment they told the police what crime had been committed. They have demonstrated a keen interest in all the evidence, even that held by Leicestershire Constabulary. I expect their concern for the twins was not strong enough to overcome the need to inform the police what had happened and what they should be doing about it. They also had to ring lots of people to tell them and get 'everything up and running' as Kate put it
Why am I not surprised that you would expect such a thing.  Do you know the McCanns?  were you there that night?  Did you witness the state of the twins?  You know nothing, so stop making things up.

And you don't think a police officer or two would have gone with them ?

Besides what incriminating evidence  do you think there was to get rid of or indeed why the need to 'freshen up ? The police  had already observed them, any 'freshening up' at that point certainly would have appeared suspicious.

No, I don't think police officers would have gone with them - why would they have?  The McCanns could have used the twins welfare ("help, our kids have been dangerously sedated!!!")  as an excuse to remove themselves and their children from the scene of the crime straight away, even before the police turned up.

Does anyone here know the McCanns? Did anyone here witness the state of the twins? They also know nothing, but you don't object to their speculations so why object to mine?

Out of comparative interest - did any of the other children belonging to the Tapas 8 reportedly wake up during what must have been an extremely noisy night?

You invite people to speculate by voicing your own nasty opinions, which are in turned based on little more than your own idle speculation.  You may sneer at the concept of McCann supporters defending the actions of the parents of a missing child on the night she disappeared, but their reasons for doing so are based on a dislike of seeing these parents constantly and continually traduced and smeared as some form of sick hobby (masquerading as "Justice 4 Maddie").

One wonders if we started a thread on global warming how many posts it would take for it all to come back to blaming it on the Drs McCann going for a tapas meal on the 3rd May 2007.

"All I'm going to say is that we've conducted a very serious investigation and there's no indication that Madeleine McCann's parents are connected to her disappearance. On the other hand, we have a lot of evidence pointing out that Christian killed her," Wolter told the "Friday at 9"....

Their eldest daughter had gone missing ... OF COURSE they were telling the police exactly how they had found the premises and what had happened.

Were there enough officers present to allow for one or two to break off the search for a missing child to accompany anyone anywhere?

I think your bias is showing Alfred. If you and your fellows are convinced I'm wrong use the evidence to defeat me instead of stooping to attacking me personally. So far all I've seen is speculation, sentimentality and, the last resort, quoting Amaral. The parents were 'very concerned' and did nothing. Fiona Payne and her mother thought it odd and said nothing. I see nothing wrong in saying so because it's true. The concerned ones are the only ones whose duty was to act.

Interesting question, Misty.  Or the fractious Wilkins babe?  Or the people sleeping just across the road in block 6?

The Wilkins child was in Block 4. Unless he had super hearing it's unlikely, isn't it? Maybe if they had screamed and wailed in his apartment. searched his room with the lights on.....................

I thought Kate sat staring into the night until it was light enough to go out? I believe Gerry snoozed with a twin on his chest according to the book. Does that make the child OK? By what criteria? I think they were asleep when the parents left them in the morning, so no change. The police officer confirmed. when asked months later, that the twins didn't wake up. Dianne Webster also thought it was strange that the twins slept through everything, but no mention of any discussions taking place or of anyone voicing their concerns or of any twins on any chests;

”Err well eventually err the twins were brought up into our apartment err and that again to me was err a very odd thing because they were fast asleep, they did not wake up.”

4078    ”Were they brought up, so had they been taken out of their cots and brought up?”
Reply    ”Yeah, yeah. They were being carried, I think Fiona and Dave carried them up.”

4078    ”And they were still not awake?”
Reply    ”Still not awake, and the cots were, because they were travel cots they brought up, you know and err put in the living room and they were put into the cots and they just carried on sleeping.”

”Yeah well at that point Kate and Gerry came up as well and err because the Police had decided to close off the apartment, bit late in the day but you know, they came up and what we did we got the, there was mattresses on the spare beds in the room where Lily was sleeping so we got them and put them on the floor in the lounge beside the twins so that they could rest, if not sleep, err but by this time it must have been about half past four, five o’ clock in the morning.”
4078    “Yeah, and the night when they were sleeping, did anybody try to wake them? Other than it being noisy and they were moved.”
Reply    “No, no I mean err when they, when they were brought up to our apartment err they had a sort of blanket over them and they were asleep on err I think it was David and Fiona that carried them up and they were just sleeping on their shoulder and obviously didn’t want to wake them up because the cots were being brought up and they were put, put, but you know my, my feeling is that they, I think a child normally would haven woken up under the circumstances.”

As I have said before there are things you can watch for,  such as a child settling itself asleep when you pick it up,  they were Drs. able to look out for signs.    Dianne on the other hand is not a Dr.

Kate says in her book that when they went up to David and Fiona's apartment her and Fiona cuddled a twin each on the sofa.

Then Gerry was stretched out on a camp bed with Amelie asleep on his chest.

Kate couldn't sleep and stayed awake wandering restlessly in and out of the room and on to the balcony.
