Lest we forget:
1) the Smiths did not come forward for 3 whole weeks after the sighting
2) by their own admission their witness account when they eventually decided to share what they?d seen was very vague
3) Mr Smith who usually wears glasses was not doing so at the time of the incident
4) Smith only decided after 4 months of seeing Gerry plastered all over the news and then made an arguido that the man he saw (without his glasses) might have been Gerry. How could he have remained uninfluenced by the negative press?
5) None of the rest of the Smith family apart from the mysterious Mrs Smith who never gave a police statement agreed with Mr Smith that the man they saw was Gerry McCann.
6) the e-fits were made 16 months after the sighting and given by two people who claimed in their orignal witness statements that they would not be able to recognise the man again.
7) buttons on trousers were so common at the time that both Gerry and the current suspect were known to possess trousers with buttons on them. In any case the witness wasn?t certain the trousers did in fact have buttons.
8) they said the sighting occurred at 9.55pm and at this time the alarm had either only just been raised or had yet to be raised giving Gerry little or no time to achieve all that he is being accused of on thie forum, ie: responding to the alarm, doing a cursory search, leaving the apartment, going to wasteland, retrieving body, taking long route round to the site of the Smithman sighting.
Only someone prepared to suspend all disbelief after reading the above would still cling to the notion that Smithman was Gerry McCann imo.
