Environment shapes people. I grew up on a street that had a pub at both ends. Both full of tradesman that were all major cocaine addicts, alcoholics & so on but many of them were decent enough people. But I observed the kind of class a lifestyle & knew it was best to stay away from involvement in it really. I just skirted the edges but I haven't been involved in any of that nonsense anymore for long time now. Far too old for all that shit.
Yes, I suppose you're environment plays a part statistically, Spam! But no one is immune to addiction!
Be it alcohol, drugs or gambling, mind set plays a part too, I believe!

I grew up in a bit of a rough neighbourhood so it was unavoidable really that I would come into contact with the community. But I'm not really in favour of people blaming their addictions because yes there is a matter of choice with it all. Some people make continuous bad decisions & it is difficult for some people to change their behaviour pattern.

Yes, anything that gives you a buzz or makes you feel better is always going to be hard to give up, its just a fact! Be it drink, drugs, gambling or any other vice, Spam!
Thankfully there is some help out there when things get out of hand, but by then its always going to be an almighty struggle unfortunately.
But!!! That's life, and they say, what doesn't kill you makes you stronger!

I know it was incredibly stupid of her really. She had death threats. That's 3 women now we know of who have left their doors/windows unlocked & fell victim to an intruder. There probably are some cases involving men leaving their doors unlocked but I can't think of any high profile case. It seems to just be a pattern among the silly women folk.
I don?t think women should have to lock themselves away in their houses all day on the off chance that someone might come into their house or flat and murder or violate them.  That said, I locked my door when I came home just now but opened two ground floor windows.  I expect the rapist / murderer to be along any minute.

You just never know what can happen unfortunately but like a boy scout you should always be prepared  and sexually abused by scout leaders. Thankfully I wasn't a boy scout but since did learn some survival techniques & so on.

Another protective factor for me against becoming a crack addicted violent criminal was that I had two married parents who were slightly Christian & didn't drink or do drugs. They were very good people & I miss them so. But sadly the street we lived on was bad. So in a way I learned from both my parents & the coke addicts around me & it shaped me.

Do you think your parents would have approved of your years of online trolling and bullying of little old ladies like me?  I?m a coke addict, but I?ve managed to cut down to one can a day, diet variety obvs.

I'm autistic. I was totally odd as a baby & child. Mum called me her special child because I was born noticeably simply not right in the head & very different to other children. But yes mum & dad knew about everything I did & they never complained about anything.

It all sounds very sad.

I'm alright. Its the rest of humanity I worry about. Bit I don't think we'll be around much longer if the US gets desperate & nukes Iran.

It?s either the Nukes or the AI that will do for us, and it will happen before the end of this century, more likely before the end of the first half of the century.  Shame we won?t be around so I can say ?I told you so?.  Anyway, I thought this was what you were hoping for, the complete destruction of all human life on the planet?

I know it's a complete contradiction. But I think its because I'd like all of humanity to die a painless peaceful death rather than the violent painful one that we seem to be on the brink of.

You?re nothing if not a mass of contradictions.

Hard Right MAGA influencer and strident critic of Ukraine Laura Loomer has done a 180 and admitted what anyone with a modicum of intelligence already knew:

?I?ve come to realise that I was bamboozled by Russian propaganda and I came to believe a lot of untrue things about Ukraine,? the 33-year-old said, interviewing Zelensky at the Mariinsky Palace in Kyiv. ?I used to think that this was a country full of Nazis.?
