Yes, eyewitness testimony can be unreliable. But the whole family passed the Gerrylike trousers pyjamas man & the police have released no other evidence of abduction.
Did they all agree he looked like Gerry?  Did they all agree with the buttons?  The sleeves?  Yes, witness statements given three weeks later sure can be unreliable, I?m so glad we agree at last that the Smith statements cannot be relied on.

I'm more swayed by evidence than Police man words. The only evidence of abduction released by the MET is the sighting of Gerry with Maddie, dressed in the wrong pyjamas.
What you mean is you?re more convinced by the words of a family you know little or nothing about who gave conflicting statements three weeks after seeing thr man fleetingly in a darkened street than anything the Met or the BKA has to say on the investigation.  Of course that?s your choice but it makes little or no sense to me to put all your faith into such a weak piece of highly unreliable evidence.

Maybe not in court. But we're not in court. The MET found the Smiths testimony reliable enough to feature the long sleeved Maddie being carried away by the Gerrylike man.

Why do you trust the police? Why trust the police words more than evidence itself? What time was the alarm raised VS? You still haven't explained why Gerry changed his mind & put the time the alarm was raised as being over 10 minutes later than most of the rest of the group? I know why he did. Its easy enough to explain from my side of the fence.

Just trust Wolters words. The slimey little prosecutor who couldn't even prove the rapist raped the woman that he definitely raped. Just trust that he'll release some evidence that Madeleine was abducted. It shouldn't be much longer now.

Gerry claims that he sent Kate to check at 10:03pm & that he became concerned by her lateness around 10 minutes later & stood up to go & check on Kate, just as Kate arrived screaming. So, Gerry puts the time the alarm was raised at around 10:13pm. Most of the rest of the group give around 10pm & Matt puts the time before 10pm. I wonder how the MET were able to clear this matter up. It seems pretty vital to establishing Gerry's alibi re the Smith sighting. How do you suppose the MET were able to pin down the exact time the alarm was raised, VS?

They didn?t pass comment on its reliability, they simply hoped it would jog someone?s memory to come forward with further information.

I trust the police, or more specifically Operation Grange in this case to be interested in solving the crime without fear or favour and to look at the facts objectively.  But it seems you only trust the police when it suits you to and that?s when they went on Crimewatch, disregarding the fact that they have categorically stated the McCanns are not involved.   You can?t use Operation Grange to support your beliefs because they don?t.
Gerry originally said the alarm was raised just after 10 and I have no idea why he then said 10.15pm.  A mistake?  A misreporting?  A poor translation?  But the fact of the matter is that not even Kate backed up this timing because there is no mention in her book that that is the time she raised the alarm.  You would have thought that if it was so important to establish the 10.15pm alarm call she might have reinforced it in her book.  In any case the PJ had ample opportunity to quiz Gerry about this discrepancy (if it ever actually existed) and I don?t think I have ever read even Amaral reference it specifically, so clearly it?s a red herring which you have latched onto to bolster your own bonkers theory.

By looking at all the witness statements holistically and not looking at them all and deciding that only Gerry?s was correct.  In fact Gerry?s 10.15 statement (if it happened) totally smashes his own alibi as it gives him ample time to have been Smithman before the alarm was raised (and it would have made far more sense to have moved the body before raising the alarm as any fool apart from you can see).

Irrespective of anyone's guilt or otherwise, the Met and, by extension, Operation Grange, are not to be trusted. They are and have always been rotten to the core.
Do not ever put your trust in the Met. I could provide a list of criminal activity just in the last few years, never mind going back decades.

Where do you think racism, misogyny and homophobia figure in the investigation into Madeleine?s disappearance?  What criminal activity or corruption to you suspect Operation Grange has been involved in?  Has the Met never solved a murder case or brought a criminal to justice?  Who are you going to call upon when a relative of yours goes missing?  Armchair sleuths on the internet presumably if you don?t have any trust whatsoever in the police.

Like I said, you cannot explain why he went from 10:03 to 10:13 with his timings. Whereas, I can.

Ok, so look at the the witness statements & find the precise time. I've done that already. Gerry claimed that with nothing to indicate he sent Kate to check at 10:03pm. That's a very precise time for someone who didn't look at their watch. I know why 10:03 was important to him. It isn't difficult for me to explain why he gave such a precise time.
