As for this award for KM, which seems to have never existed before, it was only conceived in order to counter the scathing article by Katie Hopkins this week about the negligent parents.

What does BS mean? I do hope you are not being rude.

I never said it was my idea of responsible parenting.
I wouldn't have done it, nor would I have let my children sleep in a tent outside in the garden, or in a hotel bedroom or apartment while I dined elsewhere. Nor would I let mine play outside in the dark at a very young age, nor on a beach without me being there.

Sadly parents have made these choices with devastating results.

I am logging off now, much to do this morning.
Deal with the failings of others as gently as with your own.

WHICH MISSING PEOPLE HAS SHE SAVED ?

As to who actually removed Madeleine, well that's another story.

Missing People isn't all about finding children/adults Stephen they also give support to the loved ones of the missing person.

Kate McCann would be very good at giving comfort for example to a parent feeling guilty for their child running away,   Kate McCann is in a position to know what guilt is all about isn't she,  she must be eaten away with guilt every day.   I think Missing People and the work Kate McCann does is keeping her going,   she can't turn the clock back but she can help others,  that is why I think Kate McCann deserves this award.

Coral Jones also got nasty posts on line accusing her and her husband of being responsible for April being abducted,  leaving a child of five out on a dark evening to play.    I for one wouldn't have done that either, but neither would I be abusing the Jones for doing it,  they thought she would be safe, unfortunately she wasn't.

You know this how?    I would imagine the awards ceremony would have been organised way before Katie Hopkins spewed her bile on line.

They would have had to get hold of Bob Geldof for a start to make sure he was available.

Really,   nothing is done around Katie Hopkins a nobody.

Indeed Montclair.

That opinion is shared by many.

'nothing is done around Katie Hopkins a nobody. '

The mccanns were a 'nobody' until they displayed their parenting skills.

Does he have anything to do with missing children?  Maybe the organisers just rang 'Rent a cleb'

Excellent post Lace.   I'm also reminded of Sarah Payne, who was forced to close her twitter account because of relentless vile abuse from mean-spirited people -  who also are not the slightest bit interested in the sterling work she has achieved since her little girl was abducted.    They simply enjoy being spiteful IMO.

Some people appear to be stuck in 2007 forever and a day - and are only interested in the blame game - whilst others have moved on and recognise what Kate (and Coral) have achieved in recent years to try to help other people who are suffering because a child or relative is missing.

Well done to them both.

The notion that innocence prevails over guilt – when there is no evidence to the contrary – is what separates civilization from barbarism.    Unfortunately, there are remains of barbarism among us.    Until very recently, it headed the PJ in Portimão. I hope he was the last one.

Does he have anything to do with missing children?  Maybe the organisers just rang 'Rent a cleb'

From Wikipedia :

In 2002, he became a founding partner of Groupcall,[62] which specialises in providing communication software and data extraction tools to the education, public and business sectors.[63] His initial involvement arose from concerns for his children's safety.[64]

Bob Geldof, co-founder of technology company Groupcall, which provides the technology behind Child Rescue Alert, will complete the campaign by honouring companies and individuals involved at an awards ceremony later in February.

Stephen Fry appears to have been the lead in this. Any objection?

I have no opinion on Fry, as I pay no attention to him at all.

Am I right in believing this Child Alert system has been launched at least 3 times now ?

ETA Yep it would seem so, launches publicised in 2010,2014 and 2016 each time the system's reach seems to have been watered down a little.
