"Detective Chief Superintendent Mick Duthie, the head of the Yard’s homicide squad [...] refused to give further details about the inquiry but confirmed that detectives were still examining possible links to a series of burglaries in the Algrarve area at the time Madeleine went missing."

We have read that.

It is meaningless.

They didn't sound too sure about finding her at all to me. 'Always the possibility' isn't all that positive. The M word did crop up again too, remember. I wouldn't get too excited if I were you.

no one is getting excited...just pleased Grange is continuing

Have they given up on the smelly sex offender with a fetish for little girls from the UK then?

Precisely Steve. And the new man is definitely aware of the value of South Yorkshire EVRDs.
For example in 2013 somewhere in this landscape a body was concealed extremely well by a perfectionist.
Completely undetectable to the human eye.
So who did they call?

latest news deserves its own thread....

It is always comforting to the parents of a missing child to hear that the police still hope to find her alive but alas it is a forlorn hope in my opinion.  There are no firm leads in this case, one minute she was supposed to have been tucked up in bed and the next she has disappeared.  The police say Tanner's mystery man was simply an innocent tourist so there isn't even a sighting near to the apartment despite several people being out walking around it that night.  All very mysterious.
A malicious prosecution for a crime which never existed. An exposé of egregious malfeasance by public officials.
Indeed, the truth never changes with the passage of time.

Less of this nonsense about "E"vrd, please.

If the "E" bestowed upon the one-and-only victim recovery dog, indeed, dog, (in the history of sniffer dogs) to bear that title did anything, it made that dog's handler very rich.

Nothing else.

You should be congratulating him for showing incentive.   8(0(*

I grant he showed that, all right.

Not sure I'll be congratulating him for it, though ....

Well a South Yorks EVRD certainly did rather well the case I posted above

This is where the dog alerted.
Incidentally the description of this EVRD deployment is in the journal of the HWG.

PC Mark Adams and VRD Kip, a Springer Spaniel, and DC Ian Jefferies and VRD Sid, a Labrador, were deployed from South Yorkshire to assist Durham officers in searching vast areas of moorland in West Yorkshire on Sunday, 26 May 2013 as part of the investigation.

Following enquiries by Durham officers, they had been led to believe the body of a missing woman they had been searching over two months for, may have been buried somewhere on the moorland by her partner, who had earlier been charged with her murder.

The forensic archaeologist reported it was the most concealed grave he had come across, being three foot deep with stone slabs also placed on top.

Smithman carrying a child in his arms checked his watch after passing the Smith family and the time was 10:03. Both are still unidentified 10 years later.

You found the case Pathfinder well done. Who would certainly have read the details of that case?
