I think you mean possibilities Brietta.

I wrote probabilities and that is exactly what I meant.  Please do not be presumptive about my meaning which is usually as perfectly clear as is yours.
"All I'm going to say is that we've conducted a very serious investigation and there's no indication that Madeleine McCann's parents are connected to her disappearance. On the other hand, we have a lot of evidence pointing out that Christian killed her," Wolter told the "Friday at 9"....

Statistically speaking the most probable scenario is the involvement of her parents in Madeleine's disappearance. There are of course other possibilities.

That is probably why the Amaral investigation spent an inordinate amount of time on them ... to the exclusion of those who were probably more worthy of investigation ... for example (getting back to the thread) the Sun report about a botched burglary the probability of which was ignored by Mr Amaral in preference to the statistical probability.

Which I believed he may have mentioned in his book and while guesting on various chat show sofas.  Statistics don't catch miscreants though ... efficient policing obviously has much more of a chance.

An efficient police officer finding no evidence against parents should then probably ~ but in this case not a chance ~ have broadened his horizons and looked at the next possible probability statistically speaking that people whose line of work was to carry out home invasions might have been worth more than a passing glance.

In future please don't try to bog me or the threads down in semantics or in argument ... address the topic of the thread instead.

I merely clarified. It was you who choose to argue.

As to the botched burglary it would appear Amaral was absolutely right in dismissing that particular theory as there seems nothing, other than an unsourced tabloid article, to substantiate that the lead is being followed by SY at this time. Further if you choose to give undue weight to tabloid articles containing no named sources of course that is a matter for you but please do not expect the more discerning among us to do the same.

You talk about efficient police operations.

So why haven't SY visibly pursued this option ?

As to burglary, there is no evidence 5A was burgled.

As to the 'sun' newspaper, they have a vested interest in the story having already paid the mccanns for serialisation rights for Kate mccanns book, and the sun's record for ethical journalism leaves a great deal to be desired.

Likewise, the PJ found no evidence of abduction.

I'm not sure why anyone with even a scintilla of sense would believe anything printed in a tabloid without seeking further confirmation.

Certainly never the Sun, Mirror, Star, etc., who have all shown distinct bias towards the mccanns.

Don't all media outlets ~ not exclusively the Sun ~ have an eye to the main chance of earning money from their copy?

I thought that was what they were in business to do ... oh well ...

Of course they are making money.

Money from a missing child.

Do you approve of them doing that ?

Likewise you cannot deny the whole hearted support given to the mccanns by the tabloid press.

It's simply lazy journalism Stephen. CM hands the journalists something to print. The story costs the editor nothing but brings in money. It's a win, win situation for the newspaper and the McCanns. The only loser, as always, is Madeleine.

I totally agree.

Yet I never see mccann supporters bleating about the papers making money from Madeleine.

It is wrong for the Sun to make money from a missing child ... but it is perfectly OK for Mr Amaral to become a rich man doing exactly what you condemn the tabloids for.
That's perhaps a bit of a conundrum for you I would have thought.

What is this hang-up that people have about others making money?
I believe everything. And l believe nothing.
I suspect everyone. And l suspect no one.
I gather the facts, examine the clues... and before   you know it, the case is solved!"

Or maybe not -

That reinforces my opinion that you don't always read posts through.

I have said BEFORE, I don't approve of anyone making money from a missing child, be it the mccanns, Amaral, the newspapers, Summers and Swan, etc.

NO ONE.

Ask Stephen ... or PM him  @)(++(* maybe ... he is the one who raised it in relation to the tabloids and seems to have quite a bee in his bonnet about it all.
