I'd go along with that, although MO should have spotted an open shutter from the outside if he checked his own daughter using that method.
So, she remained hidden behind the sofa, no shoes, no cardi or coat....then what?
Behind the sofa is just one of several possible places, it might not be correct.
During the 9.30pm check it is possible the child was hiding in apartment, and may have been either awake or not awake.
During the 10pm check it is possible the child was hiding in apartment, but if so, it's not possible that the child was awake (because if awake would have responded to checker's voice).

After GM left the apartment at approx. 9.10pm, the only other known person to allegedly enter & exit it was MO, at around 9.30pm.
Would a frightened, hiding child sleep? A sleeping child could not leave her hiding place. A child awake would have either remained hidden until she considered it safe to move or responded to the first familiar voice.
If she was sleeping, imo she would have been quickly found.

According to RO rog he  "looked into Gerry and Kates room" Merc which is not the same as going in.

If an interrupted burglary happened anytime after the chat had ended, the first parent's voice the child would hear would be KM's.

It's just that first door move, Pegasus.....and was GM being entirely truthful in his statement about everything at 9.10pm inside the apartment?

There have been plenty of cases where searchers for a missing child have taken hours to find a non-awake child.

Possibly just going to the bathroom Misty?

In the MM case, there were a very limited number of places for total concealment and, unlike those you mention, the child was never found.

Possible. That meant one awakening between 8.30 & 9.05pm - but she apparently didn't get back under the bedcovers.

If the bedroom door was opened before GM's check it can only have been the mobile child who pulled it open, either to go see her parents in the other bedroom, or to go for a wee, there is nothing remarkable about either action.

Ok let's pick up on that...WHY did he look in Kate N Gerry's room? what reason would he have for doing that exactly?
to sniff the sheets?
Did Kate or Gerry ask him to do this and did anyone explain why they would ask him?
AND if no one can offer an answer then we ask why look in Kate N Gerry's room, when he was supposed to be checking on the children, and didn't 'look' in their room? Hmmm

according to RO he wondered where Madeleine slept, yes, I know, more questions than answers

Reply 'The door to the bedroom, the twins bedroom and Madeleines bedroom, erm and I mean afterwards you know, he said he thought that was unusual because he thought the door would be shut, cos I mean we always shut Graces bedroom door, erm or at least if we did, I mean we always shut it but yeah I know some people would kind of probably just pull the door to, but he didnt expect it to be as wide open as it was, erm so he, well he said you know from kind of standing close to the doorway, he could see that the twins were in their cots and there was no sound, erm so he just assumed everything was alright, he didnt put his head round the door to see if Madeleine was in her bed, but he said he did wonder where she slept, erm poked his head, well you know kind of looked into Gerry and Kates room, just saw there was a double bed there, so you know, assumed they were all in together or, I mean I think he knew that they were all in together, erm but he didnt actually look to see whether Madeleine was there or not'.

The remarkable thing is that you think she got out of bed in the dark, went to the bathroom, returned to her bed & went back to sleep without looking for either of her parents.
