if you say what Kate said is not true then you are accusing her of lying,,,,which is libellous...if you claimed that your name was James Tiberius Kirk then that might be true...untrue...or you might be insane

You are playing with words.

Now provide a CITE to backup her claim.

Other cases are irrelevant.

She probably misunderstood what she was being told.....

#I would say she didn't seeing as her lawyer confirmed it to her and the statements have never been denied

I think you need to calm down

After all, she didn't speak Portuguese, and how often are we told about problems with translation ???

It means nothing unless you can back it up.

A group of scientists claimed in the eighties that they had discovered a means for producing a 'cold fusion' process.

It was written up as a research article.

Guess what, NO VERIFICATION.

The incentive to accept this 'offer' seemed to be that if we didn't agree to it, the authorities could, or would, go after us for murder, and if we were found guilty we might both receive life-sentences

(Kate McCann, Madeleine).

Let's see.

Mark Harrison was instructed by the PJ to investigate (nothing but!) murder.

Amaral said, we talked about death by others, not murder.

Quote
After a week of intense work, Harrison presents the results of his study to my coordinating group. Even if we were expecting it, his conclusions confirm our worst fears. The most plausible scenario is the following: there is no doubt that Madeleine is dead, and her body is hidden somewhere in the area around Praia da Luz. He praises the quality of the work carried out by the Portuguese authorities in trying to find the little girl alive. According to him, the time has come to redirect the searches in order to find, this time, a body hidden in the surrounding area.

Kate described the 'deal' put to them: Kate admits to finding and hiding "a body" and gets a couple of years, while Gerry is let off; OR the pair face murder charges.

Mark Harrison was briefed to investigate exclusively murder (despite Amaral claiming that no one talked about murder).

Kate makes no reference in her book to any deal which might or might not have been put to them by the police while they were being questioned.  The only reference I can find to any deal was, according to Kate McCann, made by their lawyer Carlos when he visited them with the bad news that they had been designated arguidos.  It is therefore mere speculation to suggest a deal was actually put to them by the police, it is also speculation to suggest that they might have been charged with murder.

A malicious prosecution for a crime which never existed. An exposé of egregious malfeasance by public officials.
Indeed, the truth never changes with the passage of time.

It is mere speculation that the deal was put to them by Carlos (originated by you).

so when the family say they were told the shutters had been jemmied...its a fact...but when they go into detail about an offer...and give precise details of kate's reaction...its mere speculation

Also from Madeleine page 267...

On the drive home from the police station it had
become clear to Gerry that Carlos believed charges
were likely and that we might have to stay in
Portugal. The preparation of a case like this could
take years. If the charge was murder, rather than the
lesser crime of hiding a body, we might even be
remanded in custody for all that time.
