They looked really comfortable on Crimewatch didn't they, when the MET released the e-fits of 'the abductor' (which the McCanns weren't keen to publicise themselves for some reason).

What evidence do you think the police would ever be able to find against them?

Perhaps we need to examine some other cases where criminals have petitioned their government to get their crimes reviewed and reinvestigated by the authorities.  I’m sure there must be numerous examples, just like there are numerous examples of children dying near instantaneously after plummeting off a sofa.

Well, if something hasn't happened before, then there's absolutely no chance it could ever happen at all.
That's how things work isn't it.

Look now to me.  I am not having another day of stress while I have to decide what is acceptable and what isn't.

John is going to have to decide.

The case itself doesn't worry me.  But I have to try to Moderate this Forum.

Perhaps we need to acknowledge that we don't know how other people think. What seems logical to us doesn't necessarily seem logical to them.

We get asked to come up with a plausible scenario, with supporters insisting there isn’t one, I come up with one, then the supporters cry libel.

In which case there must be numerous examples of criminals behaving in a similarly illogical manner, ie: insisting that the authorities re-open an investigation into their own crimes.

Why must there be?

It doesn't make sense this whole, because something hasn't been known to happen before, it therefore can never have happened or happen in the future, scenario.

If you mean the McCanns, they never asked for an investigation to be re-opened.Nor did they ask for a new investigation to be launched. They asked for a review of the archived investigation and, imo, were hoping that investigation (which named them as suspects)  would be discredited.

Oh God.  Ghastly semantics again.  There would have been no point.

You really are not very good at this.

I think criminals usually make determined attempts not to highlight their wrongdoings and certainly do their level best either to keep it all out of the public eye not publicise the crime at every opportunity.

Or if the worst comes to the worst - to pin all on a carefully chosen patsy.

Amaral chose Kate McCann as his patsy and conversely by hook or by crook did his level best at all times since to make his the only narrative.  And spared no effort to prevent Madeleine being looked for.

My opinion is that Amaral better fits what I think would be more appropriate behaviour for a perpetrator with the actions of his preferred scapegoats being totally appropriate for those trying to find their missing child.

Leaving no stone unturned so to do.
"All I'm going to say is that we've conducted a very serious investigation and there's no indication that Madeleine McCann's parents are connected to her disappearance. On the other hand, we have a lot of evidence pointing out that Christian killed her," Wolter told the "Friday at 9"....
