Identifying Smithman with a view to eliminating him should have been a priority a long time back when Redwood had his eureka moment.

How should he have done that?  The person I told SY that matches Smithman just has to say he was in bed with his wife or watching a video and we are no further on.  Was there a video player in their apartment?  It wouldn't have be hard to check.  They could have been asked:  "What was the video that you watched, where is it now? But ask both the husband and wife separately and see if they come up with the same video title.  It would be a bit late now as it could be just put down to "It was a long time ago, now I can't remember now".
