That is very true but remember we don't know everything that Amaral knows about the circumstances of Maddie's disappearance. To be honest he is most probably right about her being dead, I know it is a hard pill to swallow for some but in all reality it is the most likely outcome given what we know.
Don't get me wrong though, it is not the outcome I or any sensible human being would want but it is just facing reality.
Most people acknowledge that she may be dead, even her parents do that. However until proof is found, then people, especially her parents, will continue to hope that she is still alive and can be found.
If Amaral had any evidence that she was dead he would have revealed it to the authorities by now.
Until there is evidence to the contrary - Madeleine has the
right to be considered to be a live missing child. Amaral does not have the right to try to convince the public that she is dead, and insodoing seek to deprive her of that right.
