Coincidences and links? Is the truth staring us all in the face?

I want to see who can make the links to the elements I provided in my opening post.  I know Sadie has previously made soundings in this area but she may not have joined up all the dots.  One thing which stands out was the death of Amaral's dog and the link which he and Sofia made to the McCann case.  On the other thread it was suggested that he blamed the McCann's for the dogs death but his words have been misinterpreted. It wasn't the McCann's to blame per se but the case itself ie Madeleine's disappearance.

The destructive element sounds more like the actions of local drug dealers worried about the continual presence of the police in their usually quiet patch. The Russian Mafia would probably have used a more dramatic deterrent.

On May 10th, the crisis unit's meeting goes on until 2'oclock in the morning.

I receive a phone call from Sofia, who insists on my going home: our Shitzu dog is dead. She found it that morning, lifeless on the ground, with a head injury. She did everything to make sure the girls did not see it, but she didn't have the courage to remove him. When I arrive, everyone is already in bed. I place the Shitzu in a plastic bag, not sure about where I am going to be able to bury him. The ground is hard here. it's not easy to dig a hole and I hardly have the time for it. I decide to drop his remains into a bin. The animal is small, but he seems to weigh more than usual. I use my car to take her. As I am getting rid of it, I realise just how easy it is to hide a body - and how difficult it is to bury....When I get back, I discuss it with Sofia: she is afraid. She asks me to abandon the investigation and to worry about our daughters rather than other people's. For her, the dog's death is a bad omen. I reply that she is unfair, that her fears are irrational. Justice must be done for Madeleine, as for all other children and adults. It's my duty as a police officer: to seek the truth so that justice may be done.

Sometimes there are coincidences and sometimes things can be connected

It seems the Algarve has attracted criminal elements of all types. I have found a very interesting story about a timeshare complex called Vale Navio in the 1990's. It was just along the coast at Albufeira. It's worth a read as a child disappeared there also, although there was a ransom demand made. The demand was made to the owners of the complex, not to the child's parents and they agreed to pay too;

It never ceases to amaze that when crimes are eventually solved, so many things usually fall into place just like finishing a jigsaw puzzle.

A comment made on another thread got me wondering about events and if they are connected.  The alleged break in at premises in Odiáxere, the open window and shutter at 5a, a missing child, nothing else stolen, Amaral's dead dog and the perceived threat against him, the destroyed information posters, the burning of a Russian's car in Luz and a community in fear of speaking out.

Can anyone else see the links?
