How many swabs were taken from the boot area?

As far as I'm aware, from reading the forensic reports, the areas of the boot to which Keela had responded were sent to the FSS in their entirety.

I have no idea what process was in place at the FSS to deal with large objects.

Thanks. Why I was asking was that Keela alerted to an area in the boot but no blood was isolated as such.  Yet Grime states she is 100% accurate in finding human blood.  I got the impression there was the blood and the fluid from an unidentified source (so I suppose that could have been blood but not recognised by the lab) if the whole object was sent to the lab.

There is no way of corroborating whether Keela alerted correctly or not. She may well have done, but the fact is that there was so little material to analyse that the FSS had to resort to LCN. A whiff of blood could date as far back as the car's manufacture.

Rob, the word blood is absent from the whole of John Lowe's report.

Grime claims Keela could detect blood in traces so minute, they wouldn't trace it in a laboratory.

How would Grime know?

The answer would be to test this.  As to whether Mr Grime performed such a check ...
What's up, old man?

you need to think again....it would be impossible to test this

your logic is flawed again

As Davel says in the post below (which I've already read) a laboratory couldn't test for it, because the trace would be too minute to be amenable to detection by laboratory testing techniques.

That is the level (Grime claims) Keela could detect.

How would Grime know.

It could be done by diluting a blood sample to a level at which it cannot be detected by the laboratory and then seeing a if a dog can consistently distinguish between this sample and a sample containing no blood.

How about water  or more likely, a saline solution.

how much water

However much is needed.
If, for the sake of argument, the laboratory can detect blood at a level of 5 parts per million, ( or whatever unit you might prefer), the task would be to see if a dog gave a positive response at level below thatm compared with known zero level.
