I think even Gerry smashed GA's theory when he asked when did it happen?

Really, when was that ?

That's right...but the fact she may be alive confirm they have no belief in the alerts

Also the fact she may be dead, means the alerts have meaning.

It's a double edged sword.

It isn't...the alerts are supposed to confirm death...they obviously don't

Far from it,Rowley says,

Quote
: I think it’s unique in two or three respects. First of all the way its captured attention in different countries is quite unusual. You’ll get a very high-profile case in a particular country, the way it has captured interest across countries, I think is significant. The length of it. And it’s unusual to have a case like this where you’re doing a missing persons investigation, where ten years on, we still don’t have definitive evidence about exactly what’s happened. And that’s why we’re open minded, even if we have to be pessimistic about the prospects, we are open minded because we don’t have definitive evidence about what happened to Madeleine

He further adds.

Quote
As I said earlier on we have no definitive evidence as to whether Maddie is alive or dead. We have to keep an open mind that is why we describe it as a missing person enquiry. Of course we understand why after so many years people would be pessimistic but we are keeping an open mind and treating it as a missing person enquiry.

No definitive evidence either way, meaning as you amongst others have pointed out the dogs alerts need corroborating, also it must be added an alleged abduction needs the same,no where is there any dissing of the Portuguse including Amaral.

So the alerts do not confirm death in the apartment

The only confirmation would be a body imo,the only confirmation of an abduction would be the same imo, catch 22,Rowley states they are pessimistic about the outcome.

For that to be true one has to know exactly what he was led to believe by the now defunct Forensic Science Service in the UK.  Amaral states that he was given information initially which was later changed, we have no way of knowing if that is accurate or false.

Yes, the email from Lowe (the one that explained the basics of mummy and daddy genetic inheritance) stated that the car result had shown 15 alleles compatible with hers, but the number didn't appear in the official report.

I presume he found that suspicious for some reason.

Yes...Amarals mega conspiracy theory involving MI5 and the cover up of the McCanns... I dont really see how anyone can take him seriously

You forgot satellite images...  ;)

ETA: To be fair, I'm not sure he personally ever mentioned satellite images, or whether it was from one of his fan blogs.

They are alerts to cadaver contamination in all probabilty for that is what Eddie is trained to find.  But what is reason for the cadaver odour contamination is anyone's guess.
