Surely you wouldn't want someone to traduce Amaral?

I suppose that is (just about) possible.

But you'd have to go some.

Don't think too many would be interested
He's going to struggle to publish a book in the uk
In fact I doubt he would be able
Perhaps someone should write a book about him
Now that would be interesting
I think Kate McCann would be the perfect author for that book.  Hire a couple of investigative journos to dig up the dirt (doesn't matter how accurate it is, freedom of expression is all that matters) and get it published in Portugal.  I'm sure there must be a few hundred buyers for that?

Well at least she'd be gainfully employed for a while.

Why, is she on the dole at the moment?

Here we go again. I have no idea whether or not she draws a regular salary from an employer which is what gainfully employed usually means  - most authors wouldn't describe themselves in such terms anyway.

Think on.  Neither of The McCanns have to prove anything.  They have never been arrested or charged.  And Goncalo Amaral has proved nothing whatsoever,  despite six months. And. then several years.  Nothing at all.

Oh do behave Alfie. She's no more an author than Richard D Hall is a film maker. She wrote a rather self-serving misery memoir. That doesn't make her JK Rowling.

And I think we both know that she's not gainfully employed.

Should she be gainfully employed?  And for why?

I would be more concerned about my opinion of myself, if I were you.

I'm very happy with myself Eleanor. Thankfully gainfully employed and able to give something back to society. But thanks for your concern.

Why do you think that Kate McCann should be gainfully employed.  I never was when my children were small.  My husband wouldn't allow it.
But that is another story.

And if you are gainfully employed then what do you give to society?  I presume that you get paid for what you do.  So who gains?

I have never come across such hypocrisy. It has to be a personal family choice that makes no one woman any less than another.

But isn't that the stick you beat sceptics with, the blunt instrument of unemployment ?

  @)(++(* Night Eleanor.

That is a more extraordinary post than usual, Faithlilly, I'm sure there is a word for that sort of attitude.  I'm also sure were I to use any that spring to mind I would be breaking forum rules.  Much as you have with your unsubstantiated accusation.

"All I'm going to say is that we've conducted a very serious investigation and there's no indication that Madeleine McCann's parents are connected to her disappearance. On the other hand, we have a lot of evidence pointing out that Christian killed her," Wolter told the "Friday at 9"....

  @)(++(* Night Eleanor.

I have never beaten anyone with unemployment.  How would I know, and what business would it be of mine anyway?

In my young day and age, married women with young children didn't work, unless they had a particular skill.  But I was an aircraft mechanic, and there weren't any of those jobs going begging.  So I stayed home and dragged up the little horror stories.

Kate was a GP,  and appears to have worked for two days a week.  And then went on to write a book.

Amaral chose to retire and wrote a book.  And doesn't seem to have done much else, other than to complain about not having a job of any kind.
Eight years and he has never actually worked at all since.
