Yes, HC confirmed the door lock was in an apartment at the north of the resort. It does not explain why the Maintenance department apparently didn't mention this call-out to the PJ.
Why would an Ocean Club Service vehicle parked near reception have aroused the suspicion of several unrecorded witnesses?

Well, sightings throughout the world seem to have aroused suspicion...

I'm intrigued, Misty.

Why did he arrive in one vehicle to the call out ~ complete the task ~ collect a service vehicle ~ both vehicles then returning to the residence where he was when the original callout was received?

The service vehicle having been parked near the tapas.

Were I an investigator I would have had a lot of questions for this guy.

The important sightings are those that did not occur in Luz on the third of May.  We now know of an individual who was there because of his job but who none saw ... that is one there may well be others.
At the least it is an interesting development as far as we are concerned and who knows for how long Scotland Yard have been working on it.

Well you can dream on about finding an abductor.

Reality is something else.

As with Ben Needham:

http://www.mirror.co.uk/news/uk-news/what-happened-ben-needham-theories-8847749

There have been sightings of the family with a boy who some people think was Ben. The detective said: “That’s the version of events we need to look at.”

Police have also received reports that there has been sightings of Ben around the world from Germany to Australia.

It seems that Scotland Yard while they may not themselves be dreaming are working towards realising a criminal's nightmare of discovery.  I wish them every success with that

Either he done it, or he doesn't know anything about it.  This much should be obvious.

Didn't the report say that he was not involved in the abduction but could have information useful to the police? A prime candidate for claiming the reward I would have thought.

Let’s count the months, shall we?

How do you know the Maintenance dept didn't mention it? The guy and his girlfriend openly did when interviewed. We don't know if a service vehicle was reportedly seen at reception because your first link is not part of the official files, it comes from here;

Sometimes individuals may be in possession of information which they may have no idea may be of value to an inquiry.

That is why information is collated for checking against other relevant information.

Pilfering by some less than honest staff goes on at every resort, it is a sad fact of life.  I am curious though to find out what this reported burglar took at noon if anything and mores to the point was it anywhere near block 5.  I would also like to know when OC management and the police found out about it.
Good point Angelo for John Hill was asked if there were any prior events that could have a bearing on the case.  OK a bit of a tough question for it relied on an opinion.  "He has been employed by the Ocean Club since March 2006 and has no knowledge of any untoward situation involving Ocean Club users or in the village itself, other than some damage and minor thefts."
John Hill gives no details as to when the thefts had occurred and burglary and theft are different crimes.

I suppose it's possible that the PJ have good leads. For all we know there are outstanding ILOR's to be actioned by OG and that's the reason why their operation remains open. The 'one line of inquiry' may be Portuguese-led.

Why do the PJ never come in for any criticism from "sceptics" for their role in the reinvestigation?

Do you then believe the supporters need help with the criticism ?
My perception is that supporters of multudinous makes and shapes have, for nearly ten years been doing quite well on their own without any help. In the words of the late Robert Mitchum "make some more up if you like".

What is their role?
To lead the PT re-investigation into the disappearance of Madeleine McCann.  We hear alot about the Met's alleged failure to find a single shred of evidence, their alleged embarrassing and pathetic Crimewatch appeal, the ruinous waste of money, the years and years of investigating with nothing to show for it etc etc etc - well with the exception of a Crimewatch appeal, all the same criticisms could surely be leveled at the PJ, but I'm not hearing it from McCann sceptics - why not?
