I'm still waiting to hear about all the outstanding work Exton did on the Madeleine McCann case that helped move the case on significantly, what with him being so brilliant and all.

The efits, which Exton had a hand in, could have moved the case on significantly. Unfortunately he was overruled and it took almost 5 years for them to see the light of day.

Is that the sum total of the outstanding work he did?  And that has significantly progressed the case how in your opinion?

His work was scuppered due to the fact that the efits were never publicised by the McCanns.

BTW what work performed by Edgar significantly progressed the case ?

To be fair though he was working at a disadvantage....what with only having access to the files the McCanns deemed appropriate. Who knows perhaps this was as a direct result of Exton and co seeing all the files and coming to the conclusions they did.

Firstly I never claimed Edgar had done outstanding work, a claim you made for Exton.  Secondly, what conclusions did Exton come to?  That the McCanns dunnit?  We all know what the Times said was in the report, we also know what the same article said about the Smiths and the direction of the Portuguese investigation, so...

No direct quotes from either the Portuguese police or the Smiths. Direct quotes aplenty from Exton.

So is it your belief that the Times journos presented the truth about Exton but lied about the Smiths and the Portuguese police?  *&*%£

What did Exton have to say about the McCanns involvement then?  Was it his conclusion?  Kindly supply the cite.

There you go, a whole thread about it from this very forum. I'm sure this will answer all the questions I'm sure you are going to ask in the coming pages  8((()*/

The report compiled by Exton said this :

"As well as questioning parts of the McCanns’ evidence, it contained sensitive information about Madeleine’s sleeping patterns and raised the highly sensitive possibility that she could have died in an accident after leaving the apartment herself from one of two unsecured doors."

He did however say that she could have met with an accident after leaving the apartment which is exactly what I did say.
To clarify it's the unresponsive state of the twins that suggests sedation.

If she'd met with an accident after leaving the apartment, what happened to her next is nothing to do with the McCanns as far as Exton is concerned, unless you think the Times read the report and decided to cover up that bit of the report and lie about the Portuguese police and the Smiths instead?

If she had left the apartment of her own record, they would hold responsibility.

However, the time has expired in which they can be charged with abandonment.

Not sure what the Portuguese police have to do with Exton's opinion. The Smith change of mind has no direct quotes.

Then why did it get reported in the Times piece?

That is very interesting to think she could have been involved in an accident after leaving the apartment.  It is not a scenario talked about that often.
