23rd August;

In any case, as we were now being kept in the dark, we didn’t know much about it ourselves by this stage
[Madeleine]

Clearly the PJ had no intention of telling them anything, let alone if the forensic results were back. Was someone else keeping them informed?

Yes G I found that very interesting. They did seem to be all over that investigation, trying to be one step ahead of any bit of possible 'bad news'.  Because a dead Madeliene would have resulted in a lot of different scenarios:

1. Uk police would be more involved in  investigating them on their return to UK as would the Social Services.
2. the back lash dfrom the public
3. their professions
4 no celebrity lifestyle and millions in the bank.

In my opinion the Policia Judiciaria investigating team had chosen their culprit and were in the process of making the evidence fit the theory.
I think it may show how blinkered they were in their belief.

What they discovered was that building a substantive case requires the opposite approach to the one they had adopted ... which is following not the theory, but following the evidence.

The evidence did not validate the theory.  Yet here we are ten years down the line discussing a theory which had nothing to support it then and nothing to support it now.
I am perplexed by supporters reluctance to answer a simple, straightforward question with a simple. straight forward answer.

"Why were the dogs taken to Luz in the first place?  What was the entirely human reasoning for flying Grime, Keela and Eddie to Portugal?"

A distinct possibility that existed was that the dogs would not alert at all.

The reality is that the alert pattern is complex, in a manner that a defence barrister could use in the McCanns favour.

But the question is still, why deploy the dogs in the first place?  Davel repeatedly ducks this to cover what Keela alerts to.

What was the purpose of deploying a cadaver team?
What's up, old man?

I've said endlessly that keela alerts to dried blood of both living and dead people
What part of that simple statement do you not understand
It is not true that I have run for cover or avoided the question and once more a post of yours will be reported for goading
I've also said why the dogs were deployed... to find evidence

A defence barrister would never have to explain the alerts
They are not admissible as evidence
Another plain and simple fact you seem to have missed
We have the opinion of an expert
The alerts have no evidential value

The dogs were deployed to find evidence
One of the possibilities was that Maddie was dead of cours
That simple fact goes without saying

The question is ... why did they not deploy the dogs in the first place at a time when they might have been of some value to the investigation ... like actually discovering where Madeleine was.

The dogs were on stand by; but had to be stood down; I find the fact far more intriguing that their use was turned down when it might have been of assistance to Madeleine rather than them being used to implicate her parents.

Quote
Police in the Algarve appear no nearer to finding Maddie 20 days after she was snatched from her bed in the family's holiday apartment in Praia da Luz. But the sniffer dogs are still being snubbed.

A senior UK police source said: "It is an absolute scandal, time is fast running out for this little girl.

"These dogs have immense capability. Their tracking skills are among the finest in the world.

"The dogs were put on standby to go to the Algarve within days of Madeleine’s disappearance.

"You would expect the Portuguese to make use of the best resources available to them, but they repeatedly ignore the offers of assistance."

The dogs include a spaniel whose sense of smell is so keen she can sniff traces of blood on a weapon even after it has been scrubbed clean.

But the source warned: "They work most effectively within a 28-day time frame. After that the scent becomes much weaker."

"All I'm going to say is that we've conducted a very serious investigation and there's no indication that Madeleine McCann's parents are connected to her disappearance. On the other hand, we have a lot of evidence pointing out that Christian killed her," Wolter told the "Friday at 9"....

I see from a little further down the thread you actually got around to answering the very simple, straightforward question I asked.

Mind you, it was a bit of a Paxman effort.

Your question has been answered many times before  on this forum
If you want a simple question answered ask it plainly  and simply
Don't blame others that there is so much waffle in your post the question you want answered gets lost

as you obviously are not familiar with the files I will post this extract for you..Mark Harrison

A method previously employed on similar cases has been to use the below assets.
Deploy the EVRD to search the house and garden to ensure Madeleine McCann's remains are not present. The dog may also indicate if a body has been stored in the recent past and then moved off the property, though this is not evidential merely intelligence.
Deploy the CSI dog to search the house to locate any human blood.
This will act in support of the forensic examination already completed.
An inhibiting factor will be on areas where Luminol has been used.

you are relatively new to the forum...please do not accuse postersof not answerring questions when these points have been covered many times before

The dogs would have value to a defence team, albeit it is unlikely the McCanns will ever require a defence team.

We have covered this before, so either your memory is poor on this occasion or you are not fully aware of the value, to the McCanns, of the alert pattern.

Should you wish to debate this further, kindly take it to one of the innumerable dog threads.  The dogs only emerged here in relation to Harrison's brief.

What was the purpose of deploying a cadaver team?

You could argue this question in one of two ways.

Firstly, one could argue that the two dogs were sent to Portugal to find evidence of a cadaver and so implicate the parents.  Alternatively, one could argue that the dogs were sent to Portugal in the hope that they would find nothing whatsoever and so clear the parents.

So which one was it, were they sent to implicate or exonerate?

why does it have to be either...the dogs did not find evidence of a cadaver and in effect they found nothing.

the dogs were sent with the best intentions afaiac......to find evidence that may help solve the case...they didnt find any evidence

They were used to search surrounding areas and Murat's property too, so they clearly weren't there just to implicate or clear the parents.
