You could argue this question in one of two ways.

Firstly, one could argue that the two dogs were sent to Portugal to find evidence of a cadaver and so implicate the parents.  Alternatively, one could argue that the dogs were sent to Portugal in the hope that they would find nothing whatsoever and so clear the parents.

So which one was it, were they sent to implicate or exonerate?

In my opinion, the latter was the actual result of their inspection but they were still used to implicate even ten years down the line.
"All I'm going to say is that we've conducted a very serious investigation and there's no indication that Madeleine McCann's parents are connected to her disappearance. On the other hand, we have a lot of evidence pointing out that Christian killed her," Wolter told the "Friday at 9"....

why does it have to be either...the dogs did not find evidence of a cadaver and in effect they found nothing.

the dogs were sent with the best intentions afaiac......to find evidence that may help solve the case...they didnt find any evidence

The dogs indicated only on property/materials which the McCann's owned or used.

FACT.

Nowhere else, and to nobody's else's belongings.

The information does not remain the same if the remit is different.  If the remit of a project was to build a channel tunnel you would not get a channel bridge, because a channel bridge would not be considered.

OG has quite clearly not considered everything, as proved by its actions.  To claim that the remit is meaningless is nonsensical.

It wouldn't matter whether you were building a channel tunnel or a channel bridge - neither would succeed if you were prevented from using using some of the material required to do the job properly.

I have never claimed that the remit is meaningless.     However my question remains the same.

In view of the remit -  what would SY do with information that may have emerged from those 40,000 plus documents in their possession which clearly suggested that the McCanns were implicated in their daughter's disappearance?

The notion that innocence prevails over guilt – when there is no evidence to the contrary – is what separates civilization from barbarism.    Unfortunately, there are remains of barbarism among us.    Until very recently, it headed the PJ in Portimão. I hope he was the last one.

"may have emerged from" "clearly suggested that".

I have already said that I don't do 'magic bullets' hypotheticals.

you actually do a lot of speculation......

Speculation now follows.  My expectation is that the dogs were positioned as ultra-reliable, never failed blah blah blah.  My expectation is the DNA evidence was relayed as being strong.  In such a situation, it would have been remiss of Carlos not to discuss the 2 year option with Kate and it would have been remiss of Carlos not to recommend the 'no comment' route once arguidoed.

yet you have speculated that it would be possible for the McCanns to hide a body, so stop deflecting. You DO do hypotheticals so address the point!

Hypothetical.  What if?  Could it be that?  Fine, we discuss such things all day long on this forum.

Magic bullet.  A piece of evidence emerges that immediately solves the case that has been unsolved for 10 years.

Massive conspiracy theory.  Do I need to go further?

no one has mentioned a magic bullet apart from you. We are talking about a small piece of information that points to the mccanns ...do you imagine SY would ignore it.....dont duck the question and dont twisty turn

Yes - just answer the question with a yes or a no, I'm not looking for an essay or an excuse.

Actually to be fair to SIL she or he has already answered this question,  The answer she or he gave earlier in this thread is that she or he does believe that the Met would deliberately ignore information that pointed to the McCanns, in other words he or she does believe in some conspiracy to protect them.

?

1 It would be interesting watching them try to build a bridge using a rather large rotary rock cutter  8(0(*
2 Give the info to the CPS or AG depending upon whose jurisdiction it came under ?
