Is that where the idea that the Attorney General wrote a report came from? It was written by those whose names appear at the end of it;

The Republic's Prosecutor
José de Magalhaes e Menezes

The Joint General Prosecutor
Joao Melchior Gomes

The Attorney General was Fernando Jose Pinto Monteiro,

As a reminder, the arguida status can still be re-invoked.

I don't need 'reminding' of that (yes!) fact that, in the abstract, arguido status can be re-imposed.

In the particular, there is not the slightest indication of that happening to the McCanns; indeed quite compelling indications that it will not (happen).

It won't be happening to anyone ferryman.

The case will be shelved.

It's merely a question of time.

and you have failed to answer the point made in my post...but its of no importance as SY regard them as cleared

Your 'point' seems to consist of your own opinions about the SC judges rulings. Your opinions are, as you know, irrelevant. It is the opinions of the judges which count.

The relevance of what SY think remains to be seen. What is clear is that despite the oft-repeated cry by McCann supporters that a professional police force like the Met would obviously have investigated the McCanns before ruling them out, they didn't.

The Attorney General was Fernando Jose Pinto Monteiro,

The archiving report was obviously signed off by the AG although there doesn't seem to be a copy in the files. However, the format of the summary is the same as the one used at the Appeal Court stage, so clearly 2 prosecutors & the AG had no issue with the article under which the case was shelved.

Unfortunately for the AG, it appears he was not whiter than white. Is there really no end to the extent of corruption on the Portuguese side of Madeleine's case? (I see also he was involved with the Portuguese Football Federation, another area attracting much negative press)

*snipped*
Suspicions have been raised that he had lunch with former Prime Minister José Sócrates a few days before his arrest on 22 November 2014 on suspicion of tax fraud, money laundering and corruption. [ 2 ] [ 3 ]

On March 25, 2015 he was accused in Antena 1 by the President of the Union of Magistrates of the Public Prosecutor's Office António Ventinhas to have prevented investigations to powerful public figures. [ 4 ]

that's just your opinion
The fact is they are not under suspicion and are not being investigated

When OG started, it was supposed to be with an open book , and all possible eventualities examined.

That clearly has never been the case.

Obvious deductions then ensue.

Do you tar the current PJ investigative team with the same brush?

Of course.

If they haven't re-questioned the Mccanns and the others.

If neither have done so, it smacks of intervention IMO.

Rest assured they have

Agh!

No, it isn't.

This is a lesson Jean-Pierre taught me way back and I've remembered it.

To be 'cleared' you first have to be charged and tried.

The McCanns were never charged and therefore never in need of being 'cleared'.

Rather, via the imposition of their 'arguido' status, they were wrongly accused.
Yup.  The most recent set of arguidos haven't been cleared either, so we can spend the next twenty years casting doubts on their innocence too.  That's how it appears to work in Portugal.

So, can I take that as an acknowledgement that the McCanns were falsely accused?

Do you read the news?

Yes, why do you ask?
The 4 people are no longer persons of interest.  That came from the UK, not Portugal.

I have no information as to whether the 4 have been de-arguidoed in Portugal.
