The first sentence is according to the archiving report.

As to what it would have taken to do a reconstruction in Amaral's time .........

That would be the sealing off of the heart of Luz.

And the co-operation of the T7.   8((()*/

You wonder why they didn't co-operate?

FOUR friends of Kate and Gerry McCann expect to be named as prime suspects over the disappearance of their daughter Madeleine.

Dr Russell O’Brien and his partner Jane Tanner, Matthew Oldfield and Dr David Payne were last night forced to bring in their own lawyers after increasing fears that Portuguese police were preparing to implicate them in the case of the vanished four-year-old girl.

It has emerged that the four, all members of the “Tapas Nine” dining party, have been warned detectives are prepared to make them official suspects in the next few days.

The latest dramatic development follows the discovery by Portuguese investigators of contradictions in key statements made in the first few hours after Madeleine vanished.

DNA samples also appear to support the chilling theory that Kate and Gerry were involved in whatever happened to their daughter.

Yesterday an emotional Gerry said: “Today marks six months since Madeleine was taken from us. It is an incredibly long time for us but must be even longer for Madeleine.

“It is so painful for us simply being separated, but all the more distressing when we have to speculate about the situation in which Madeleine finds herself. We have no idea whether she is suffering but we have to hope and pray that she is being treated like a princess, as she deserves.”

If named, the McCanns’ friends Dr O’Brien, 36, Ms Tanner, 37, Dr Payne, 41, and Mr Oldfield, 37, will join them and expatriate Robert Murat as the only suspects in the investigation.

Portuguese police have received permission from a judge to travel to Britain to re-interview the four.

Last night a source close to them said: “They are aware this might happen and although they have yet to receive any official word there have been strong enough signs for them to take legal advice..................

Right, so......

Amaral should have done a reconstruction is the premise.

Amaral got hoiked from the case when?

Report dated 4 Nov 2007.  Friends afraid of being made arguidos.

If this was a recipe, I couldn't cook it, because it is soooooooooooooo garbled.

For Amaral to do a recon, he had to be on the case, and the T9 had to be in Portugal.

Neither of those in Nov 2007.

I can't cook a meal without the ingredients.  Sorry.

The PJ did a recon with the 3 of the Smiths in May 2007 after bringing them back to Portugal. No reason why they couldn't have taken a couple of hours to do the same thing with the Tapas group. It wasn't as if all the group went to & from the apartments during the crucial 90m period. After all, they removed holidaymakers from their apartments in August 2007 when the cadaver dogs were brought in.

You seem to be unaware that it was decided not to enact a reconstruction at a time when Amaral's influence on the investigation was very much in evidence?

Snip
In chapter five Amaral writes ...

"The reconstruction was never to take place. The reasons put forward to justify that decision - in spite of opinions to the contrary - are multiple.

There are lots of holiday-makers at this time and sealing off the perimeter would ruin their stay;

the airspace would have to be closed;

the hotel complex would be overrun with hordes of journalists;

people might think that the parents and their friends were suspects and, of course, the field mustn't be left open for that kind of deliberation.
For all that, a more discreet reconstruction, even partial, with only the couple present, might provide useful information. No a priori judgment is implied, quite the contrary."
Goncalo Amaral

"All I'm going to say is that we've conducted a very serious investigation and there's no indication that Madeleine McCann's parents are connected to her disappearance. On the other hand, we have a lot of evidence pointing out that Christian killed her," Wolter told the "Friday at 9"....

Supporters need to stop flip-flopping about when a reconstruction should have been done and what the circumstances were like in Luz at said time.  You can't pick a bit here and pick a bit there and cobble it together as though it all joins up.

By the end of 4 May 2007, when it emerged that the time lines were a bit of a mess, the McCann-alerted press were swarming over Luz.

A recon, whether with 2 or 9 people, or more, required that a large chunk of Luz could be quarantined.

The road the McCanns abutted was not a quiet road.  It had become one of the more important routes in Luz.

The PJ had until the T7 departed to do a recon. Nov 07 came nowhere close.

I was watching Panorama Nov 07 last night, which has sections of the press melee hounding the McCanns on their drive back to Faro airport.

Rebelo requested a recon at a time when it could have been achieved quietly.  The T7 refused.

Pedro do Carmo: "Maddie's parents are not suspects. Period."

Journalist:Ten years on about the events at Praia da Luz, why do you think the case is still so much debated?

Pedro do Carmo, deputy director of the Judiciary Police: First, there was a deliberate and legitimate effort on the part of the child's parents to keep the topic on the agenda of the media.
http://expresso.sapo.pt/sociedade/2017-05-03-Pedro-do-Carmo-Os-pais-de-Maddie-nao-sao-suspeitos.-Ponto-1

You may deride in the basest terms the profound influence Madeleine McCann's parents had on the search for her but in a recent interview, the deputy director of the Judiciary Police is rather inclined to give credit where credit is due.

In the same interview he was also at pains to stress that as far as the PJ is concerned the present case is far from concluded.
"We are very demanding with our work. In this case, we are not satisfied and remain committed to resolve the case." Pedro do Carmo

Question to you: is it your opinion that taxpayers' money should not in general be used to pay for investigating crime or is it only in the particular case of the missing child, Madeleine McCann?

I have answered that question numerous times.

A great deal of money has already been spent, with nothing to show for it. Ditto in Portugal.

Now you tell me, when will enough be enough as regards this case, and knowing full well police budgets and public finances , according to the government are stretched to the limit. Also, police services are being reduced even further.

So the question is, why are you and others, prepared for this expenditure to continue  without limits as regards time  ?

The expenditure is 'peanuts' in the scheme of things.  It costs taxpayers £150 million a year just to remove chewing gum from our streets.

As long as SY know there are leads still to  be followed - then of course they should carry on imo.

If it was announced that a lot more taxpayers' money was going to be spent on searching for Ben Needham, I would be delighted.

The notion that innocence prevails over guilt – when there is no evidence to the contrary – is what separates civilization from barbarism.    Unfortunately, there are remains of barbarism among us.    Until very recently, it headed the PJ in Portimão. I hope he was the last one.

I was waiting for the chewing gum to rise again.

Meanwhile police services are being cut back.

Are you happy with that ?

I seem to recall quite a few satisfied comments when detectives working on Madeleine's case were amongst the first to be severely cut back.
The fact that they asked for more funding to enable them to continue to work on active leads also caused not a little consternation in some quarters.

Doesn't it seriously worry you that every single penny - including the money raised for Madeleine's Fund - is actively railed against and grudged;  particularly when the ire is directed at an active police investigation with a missing girl at the centre of it?

It is very odd, Brietta, especially as these people have it in for only The Mccanns?

The same people dont seem to mind the fact that large amounts of money are being spent on searching  for other missing children.

In fact it is so odd that ir could be called bizarre and unfathomable.   Perhaps for some reason they are jealous of the Mccanns?   Otherwise the only other reasons that i can think of is that they are Amarals mates or gain some benefit from Madeleine not being found.

Can anyone else offer any reasons for the hatred that is so frequently aimed at The Mccanns?

It is my opinion that initially many people were manipulated by false media reports at the time; what the motivation for the inexcusable ten year campaign of vilification may be totally escapes me;  I find it beyond reason.

If the present investigation into Madeleine's disappearance comes to a conclusion without resolution I will be very sad for Madeleine and I will be very sad for the family who nurtured her for the first four years of her life.

But we are not at the square one of 2007.

The current investigation has cleared a forest of dead wood by following investigative opportunities which had been neglected until Madeleine's case was reopened in 2013.

It is now just a waiting game.

...and it has gone nowhere.

They do not know how Madeleine disappeared, let alone her ultimate fate.
