That should be fun.
We could start with a high level breakdown into say:
1 Salaries plus Overhead.
2 Travel and accommodation.
3 Bought Outs [in this case I can only see translation costs being a significant sum].
4 Contingency [Things we haven't thought of but say ten percent of what we have thought of in value].

What a very good idea.  That should keep us going for a minute or ten.

Has it crossed anyone's mind that Operation Grange won't be half inching the money?

Of course not, Sadie.  Operation Grange would have to be entirely mad to be stealing money from the investigation, or even to be diverting it.

And as for a couple of jollies to The Algarve.  Please don't be ridiculous.  The suggestion is stupid, and only serves to prove how very silly the sceptics are.

To be honest, I have never been interested in a detailed breakdown as to where the dosh went.  The only figure that would get my genuine interest is how much was spent on the 'sun tans in Luz' trip in June 2014.  The bill must have been eye-watering to investigate and rule out those 41 anomalies.

I was simply pointing out to a fellow forum member that to claim a detailed understanding of where the money has gone is tosh.

I find it reassuring from the FOI request that DCI Nicola Wall can apparently 'sneak' in and out of Portugal without the DCI Andy Redwood media fanfare.

I too have wondered at that, not a single leak from PJ HQ that SY were in town.  Could it be that DCI Walls went there secretly and only the most senior officers at police HQ were aware of it?  I fail to see how a cosy chat over a coffee could ever achieve anything except a bon accord in international relations.

Perhaps she was summoned? The case is a Portuguese case after all.

Now we have this...................

' Met Police asks retired detectives to return amid staffing crisis

Hundreds of retired detectives are being asked whether they would come back to work, as Scotland Yard faces a staffing crisis. '

It has however, being going on for years in the UK.

Has anyone ever asked how much is the UK taxpayer paying Portugal to continue the Maddie enquiry?

What makes you think the UK is paying Portugal

The question can still be asked.

Time is running out though... the clock is ticking and there doesn't seem to be the same' rent a sympathy mob' tweeting and tooting about the parents of Maddie. Speaking of who, they are no where near finding her as they have not been 'looking' for her, just reading over old notes and statements in an attempt to tell somebody something, whether that something is  important or not is anyones guess.

But for my money I am looking for  'we just don't know what happened'. or This is what happened- providing evidence. I don't want to hear what they believe happened either. make- believe does not make great evidence. And one theory is no more plausble or believable in another one.

One thing is certain little Maddie has been let down by the parents, the Tapas, the PJ, the SY, The journos, the media and the lawyers working for the parents. ALL are guilty of her continued demise/suffering.

All made money from her situation and in my opinion that is dispicable and deplorable.

Would you rather all those you consider to have let Madeleine down had done nothing at all?

The behaviour of those I have mentioned should have done nothing because what they did achieve was the same as doing nothing = nothing,
