Have a great Easter everyone but please keep the above in mind before commenting.

SY should come clean with anything significant they have in this case tho personally I doubt they have anything and this latest request for more public dosh is purely a mopping up exercise.

Cross-border investigations are complicated enough without providing a running commentary to the media, particularly when one country is against such practices.

Who knows.

Quite, but a large number of pounds spent on that investigation, even though it's never been more than a missing person inquiry

There are a number of criteria, presumably, that can assist the police to determine the difference between someone who's just decided to take off voluntarily and someone who hasn't. A problem can be the early stage where the situation isn't objectively clear. Police time can either end up being wasted, or a crucial period of time chasing up leads or evidence can be missed.

I didn't know the case myself so I listened to a documentary and they are certainly treating it more than a missing person inquiry from what I was being told.  https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IioQlYvtd80  "CLAUDIA LAWRENCE │ INTO THE COLD".

THE mum of missing Ben Needham has hit out at the recent cash boost to extend the search for Madeleine McCann.

Venting her frustration on Loose Women, Kerry Needham said she had not received the same "magnitude" of support as Kate and Gerry McCann, who were promised extra funds to continue the search for their daughter earlier this week.

Heartbroken Kerry Needham was comforted by the Loose Women panel as she spoke about the search for her missing son Ben
The 43-year-old said: "It hurts. It hurts us and it hurts me as Ben's mum.

"I'm not taking anything away from it at all - she deserves to be found but so does Ben and we haven't had a fraction of that help.

"I've had to fight alone as a single mum and tried to get the help that Ben deserves and that we deserve as a family.

"It did happen in the end but not to the magnitude that that case has had."

Ben disappeared during a family holiday to the Greek island of Kos in 1991.

Sad indeed that there wasn't 24/24 online media coverage in 91. There wasn't even Google translate...

There seems to be no published quantum for this new tranche of funding. Does anyone know if it is a significant sum or just another six months wages for the four officers left holding the fort?
According to Ye Olde Currant Bun: Earlier this week the Home Office confirmed Scotland Yard would get the funds to chase a "vital line of inquiry".
If that is right the plurality of leads quoted by Mark Rowley earlier this year ceases to be ....... *%87

I read some time ago that there was one outstanding line of enquiry. I think I've posted with cites to that effect somewhere on here several times in the recent past, Alice.

I know.
Stephenson and Hogan -Howe both said single lines of enquiry.
Rowley said some or a few
Now the Sun says one.
The number of leads seems to be a very moveable feast.

Beat me to it, previously sums have been mentioned but not this time AFAIK.
