I thought police had sealed off the apartment by the early hours of the morning.
How then could cleaners gain access and why, given that McCanns were supposed to be there until Saturday morning.

''By the time officers returned to the Ocean Club apartment more than 24 hours after Madeleine's disappearance, cleaners at the holiday complex had washed the sheets, blankets and pillowcase.''

Can we have a cite for this from the PJ files ? 8**8:/:

What I found amazing to discover was that no one ever secured the crime scene in that the patio door was never secured.  Another thing that is amazing is that the bed clothes from Madeleine's bed were allowed to be laundered.

Try reading the official files instead of believing the rubbish printed in the Daily Mail.

No one is going to admit to that but wasn't that common knowledge.  The McCanns had taken their stuff and the OC had to prepare the room for the next lot of tenants.

It is clear from the statements of the first police responders (Tweedledee and Tweedledum according to Dr Healey) that they disbelieved the parents claim that the child had been lifted from her bed and abducted.  I think this is why restrictions were not immediately applied to everything in and around apartment 5a.  And that is why a local search was commenced immediately rather than road spotchecks.
A malicious prosecution for a crime which never existed. An exposé of egregious malfeasance by public officials.
Indeed, the truth never changes with the passage of time.

Inaccuracies;

"By the time officers returned to the Ocean Club apartment more than 24 hours after Madeleine's disappearance, cleaners at the holiday complex had washed the sheets, blankets and pillowcase".

The forensic team from the Police Science Laboratory arrived at 15.30 on 4th May. The photographs they took clearly show the bedding in place on the bed.

"Police failed to seal off the apartment as a crime scene, meaning vital samples were contaminated with ash from officers' cigarettes"

The apartment was locked by the PJ team at around 4am on the 4th and the GNR guarded it thereafter.

"Officers also allowed the McCanns to move their possessions to another apartment."

They were allowed to take some items before the apartment was secured and the remainder were collected by the McCanns and Emma Knight on the morning of Sunday 6th.

A search was also made for possible biological traces and fibres on the single bed from where the minor disappeared, using a variable-wave light source appropriate for the task, the result obtained having been negative.

The area of the pillow of the bed from the minor disappeared was inspected with the intention to detect the presence of some smell [aroma] characteristic of volatile substances typical of chloroform or ether, this search proving negative

Mark William Thomas reported that the apartment was left insecure.  His interview has been recorded in this video clip "Astonishing new theory of Madeleine McCann revealed on This morning" https://youtu.be/10Jztzz8Qs0

The case files Rob, the files.
Just think about it Stephen, who is controlling what is kept in the files and later what is released?  They are not going to release files that show gross incompetence.

But the report from Jose Roque (GNR) is your first bit of evidence of an abduction that you've been wanting to see for years.  He says "During the search he did not find anything strange apart from the bedclothes on Madeleine's bed, which were too tidy, it appeared that she had been picked up from or had left the bed with great care. There was a mark on the sheet that appeared to be made by a child's body." http://www.mccannpjfiles.co.uk/PJ/JOSE_ROQUE.htm

If, and it is still a big if, Madeleine was abducted from her bed then there was every chance that the alleged abductor left DNA evidence behind on the bed covers or on the floor by the bed.  If the PJ failed to avail of those opportunities then they were indeed negligent.

It would have been a major drop off by the PJ but it's a big leap from that to presuming any DNA & finger prints which potentially could have been recovered were already on record.

And that's your evidence of abduction ?

Yes Jassi it isn't much to go on but the GNR thought it so.   A serious crime was a possibility so the place should have been kept secure but the cleaning staff or the OC/MW staff laundered sheets etc.

When did Mark Williams-Thomas arrive in Luz?

Speculation about bedclothes by a GNR officer six months after the event is not evidence, my friend.

You'd need to find out why the statement from Roque was taken so much later even though he was first on the scene.
Mark Williams-Thomas says a couple of days.

So Williams-Thomas was repeating what he'd heard when he said 5A wasn't secured by the police.

All I know is what I hear him say in the video clip.  It sounds like he was personally aware that the apartment was not secured when he checked it.
