There doesn't seem to be any thing that points to them straying from it.

That's the problem with starting with a hypothesis. Instead of following the evidence, you look for evidence to support your hypothesis.

Well nothing has come from forensic examinations.

Almost forgot the partial fingerprints and hairs,

More importantly if evidence is ignored because it  doesn't fit the current theory.

Something along those lines happened in the Yorkshire Ripper case

Indeed, and how long was it before he was arrested,  after the time he was initially interviewed ?

So do you think it is possible that the McCanns were not invited -  but they secretly contrived a way of bumping into police officers -  who, for some unknown reason, then decided they had no choice but to comprehensively brief them on their plans to apply to re-open the case  - and this info was only imparted to them as a result of a  'cunning' plan by the McCanns.      Really?

The power of 'wishful thinking' never ceases to amaze me.

The suggestion that they turned up on the off chance is your suggestion, not mine. I find it as daft as you clearly do. How you thought of it I can't imagine.

The update doesn't say why the McCanns were there, but it clearly states that Rowley and Redwood were there at the invitation of the PJ. It doesn't say that the McCanns were invited by the PJ.

Perhaps the McCanns were there at the invitation of Rowley and Redwood? Perhaps they were there because the PJ required their presence?

I would say they have clearly followed the evidence and arrived at abduction...thats my opinion....and no one can say with certainty that it isnt true

If McCanns were there at the invitation of Rowley et al, you have to wonder why they made that invitation.
While it might be normal practice to inform parents, etc of progress, inviting them to meeting in a foreign country seems a bit extreme.
Purely my own opinion, of course.
I believe everything. And l believe nothing.

Then there's the Jill Dando case, which the OG SIO worked on.

Precisely.

That is something certain parties would like to ignore, or deflect from.

I.M.H.O. of course.

There is no evidence showing that they did that either. What there is suggests they didn't, in my opinion.

David Cameron; Operation Grange was to help the parents.
Sir Paul Stephenson; he knew they were innocent once he met them.
The remit; abduction.
A C Rowley; Their mission is to find answers for the parents.

more evidence that the Mccanns are not suspects

Seeing as OG seem to be  treating it as an abduction, its hard to see why they should be.

Perhaps the McCanns were there at the invitation of Rowley and Redwood? Perhaps they were there because the PJ required their presence?

It wasn't me who suggested the possibility that they may have arrived uninvited.  IMO it is a daft suggestion but I do have an idea why some sceptics would prefer that to be the case.

If the reason for SY inviting the McCanns was to update/brief them on their meeting with the Oporto team then there is absolutely no reason for the McCanns to travel to Portugal for that - as it could take place on SY's return to the UK.  So that makes no sense to me.

IMO It is far more likely at the very beginning of this process that the Oporto Team would not want to make the same mistake as Amaral made -  but would want to meet the McCanns in person right at the start.   The only way they could do that was by inviting the McCanns to Portugal.  That does make sense to me and so IMO the McCanns were invited by the PJ  - probably via SY to attend.

The notion that innocence prevails over guilt – when there is no evidence to the contrary – is what separates civilization from barbarism.    Unfortunately, there are remains of barbarism among us.    Until very recently, it headed the PJ in Portimão. I hope he was the last one.

Once again what about where they have no jurisdiction?
