I suppose he was hoping to make some money from it to compensate for the previous losses.

Possibly, or his English-language editor.

Good on him if he wants to record his memoirs for his baby son. Why not? But that could be done in a private way through a diary.

Or... he may feel that there is some issue with his family name being linked to thie case.

I can understand that he isn't happy about what happened... but I just can't see it as a best-selling book.

For the English-speaking world, who - aside from a few UK expats, and a few, erm, obsessives - would even remember the name?

If Sergey Malinka was really interested in getting the truth out there all he had to do was to publish it on the internet.  Somehow I'm not convinced though.
