I don't think so as it was on the the evening of the same day that Madeleine spoke to her parents that Kate mentioned it to Fiona and JT at dinner. That was Thursday - the night she disappeared. So I don't think all three of them would get that wrong.
IMO
At the table when Kate was worried about the children i.e. the unlocked patio door and then her daughter disappeared. Telling others straight away at the table about the crying but they still left the door unlocked. Is this a bad B-movie horror script or are they the most useless or unluckiest people in the world ? Or is there another explanation ?
"Questioned about an episode where she related that one of the twins, Sean, and MBM (both children of GM and KH), had cried in the night (the one prior to the events) she said she knew of that situation but only from the beginning of dinner on 3 May when KH commented at the table that MBM had, that morning, asked the reason why her parents had not come to the bedroom when she and her brother had cried (the previous night). Asked, she says that none of the adults were aware of that situation on the night that it supposedly occurred."
http://www.mccannpjfiles.co.uk/PJ/JANE-TANNER-10MAY.htmIt came up at that, that conversation, which I think was on the, on the, on the Thursday night, about, erm, you know, whether I would feel happy leaving, leaving a door unlocked, but that was the only time I'd heard Kate sort of almost saying, question whether they should do it or not'.

'Did she say that she actually left it unlocked then''

'Yeah, she must have done, because I knew that it wasn't locked. And I was a bit'.

'And did she'.

'I mean, I was a bit surprised, I mean, Kate, you were asking about what they're like as parents, and they're certainly not, erm, paranoid parents, what I would call paranoid parents, you know, but they're very, very careful parents. Erm, you know, I've got friends who are very laid back and, you know, I wouldn't be surprised, erm, for them to feel happy doing that sort of thing. But it did surprise me a bit with Kate, because I think, you know, she is, between her and Gerry, they are very different, she is very cautious, Gerry, erm, you know, is probably more sort of happy to, tut, relax and go with the flow and that sort of thing, Kate is very, very much more cautious. So, you know, I think, as I said earlier, I think that was something she wasn't quite happy with'.

'Did she say that she had confronted Gerry over that matter''

'No. No, I mean, I think they'd discussed it and, you know, she, she had, huh, it sounds like it happens a lot, when I say, you know, about deciding to go on holiday, but, you know, he's very much 'Oh it'll be fine', you know, and she was like, you know, yeah, most of the time he's probably right, you know, she worries a bit too much and he worries less. But, you know, I don't think there was an issue between them about it but, as I say, Kate was, it was just something that I'm sure was on her mind that night'.
