I would think they would not make such a definitive statement  unless they had good reason to do so... ie some actual evidence that we do not know about... That's my opinion

I always wonder how people come to their opinions.  I like checking to see if they are basing their opinion on some sound facts.  In this particular case Davel accepts the PJ's opinion, based on the premise that the PJ have some additional information that they have but have not revealed.  That is a speculation at best, but at least not an unreasonable one.   But Davel does not apply the same logic across the board and say "the PJ must be right in all their accusations/insinuations against the McCanns". (Well therefore IMO Davel's opinions are inconsistent.)

Your suggestion that one should accept everything or nothing from the pj is not reasonable IMO... I take every statement on it's merits.... Which is a, reasonable thing to do so it seems you have misunderstood my reasoning process

No it isnt....If I said that the pj do have evidence that would be an assumption...what  have said several times is based on their statement...which is evidence....they may have further information that we do not have

"they may have further information" or the pj do have evidence"  are both assumptions.

What is the true definition of an assumption.

synonyms:   supposition, presupposition, presumption, premise, belief, expectation, conjecture, speculation, surmise, guess, theory, hypothesis, postulation, conclusion, deduction, inference, thought, suspicion, notion, impression, fancy;"

In fact unless you had proof the statement  "the pj do have evidence" could be false, an untruth or even a lie.
