Given Chaplin's only relevance to the case at the time of Faithlilly's visit, I would hope that it would have been one of her primary points to address.

I agree. It also doesn't rule out a comment that a child was heard crying for 10 mins on the Tues (Amelie) escalating into the version narrated by the hairdresser in the Kutting Korner.

Not sure what you mean Misty. Mrs Fenn included the crying incident in her signed statement. Where does the Kutting Korner come into it?

Mrs Fenn only mentioned the crying in her statement to the PJ in August 2007 (same month as the documentary) & nothing else which she'd allegedly repeated to the hairdresser.

Who’s to say the hairdresser didn’t get the Chaplins story from gossip going around the village ? It was certainly on the internet before August 2007 ( SiL seems to think before 24th July 2007 https://shininginluz.wordpress.com/2014/10/23/the-mccanns-scandal-at-chaplins/). The hairdresser probably conflated Mrs Fenn’s story with gossip she’d heard elsewhere.

I went there in 2008. Lots of children's drawings on the walls and quite a few families enjoying the friendly surroundings. Had a long chat with the woman who manages it about the case. Let's just say she wasn't very complimentary about the McCanns.

Was that about the McCanns' childcare arrangements, or was there more to it?

I haven't read that any other local said the McCanns were in Chaplins on any night, let alone the Tuesday, so I wonder how these two entirely separate stories from unrelated people (one a short-term UK holidaymaker) somehow got merged into one?  Coincidentally, both events were said to have occurred on the only night that not a single one of the Tapas 9 was absent from the dinner table.

As the saying goes ... great oaks from little acorns grow and in my opinion, nothing exemplifies that more than Madeleine's case and the propaganda war waged against her parents since the day and hour of her disappearance.

Clement Freud's villa was/is on the hill where the McCanns went running, when they were in 4G.  It can be seen on Google StreetView.
