Yeah , because as Davel says their 'training' would let them know not to take things at face value and would study and research... (&^& (&^& (&^&

They dismissed the findings for strange reasons. If my child was missing and I was told that dogs had highlighted a scent of a cadaver being in the apartment, IF I WAS INNOCENT, I would be distraught. but hey ho Gerry gives it the  well I am a doctor you see  attitude cool as a cucumber-and they are unreliable- go ask the dogs snigger snigger..

This is the same Gerry who believes his daughter was abducted by paedophile gang... yeah I know...

But Gerry wasn't as cool as a cucumber... Your logic is flawed

GRIME

In my role as advisor to the U.S. Justice Department I have facilitated assessment of numerous cadaver search dog teams in the United States. These dogs are exclusively trained using human cadaver sources. When I introduced decomposing pig cadavers into training assessments 100 % of the animals alerted to the medium. (The products were obtained from whole piglet cadaver not processed food for human consumption). The result from scientific experiments and research to date is suggestive that the scent of
human and pig decomposing material is so similar that we are unable to 'train' the dog to distinguish between the two. That is not to say that this may not be possible in the future.

An interesting quote.  I have always assumed that properly trained canines could tell the difference but there you go.

You can't go and purchase an EVRD puppy from the pet shop.  You have to train it from scratch.  Some will be genius and others won't be able to do it.  There will be a range of talents  etc.

Point well made, like most things in this world there will be the good and the bad and lots more in between.

So to conclude, on that basis, we are to believe that someone took a whole pig into that apartment and killed it. OK fair enough.

Why a whole pig?   We are told that Cadaver dogs can alert to the tiniest speck, or even to Cadaver odour that is there because of cross contamination.

So we can add butchers , abbatoir workers and pig farmers to the list of possible professions of visitors to the Apartment that could have contaminated it with odour to which the dog alerted.

This is, why the alerts themselves have no value... The dogs are trained to help in the, recovery of evidence... At least that's, what Grime says

Who would have thought old furniture could trigger an alert

Fairly obvious really if some died on it...

Someone died on a chair... And sat there for two hours for the odour to develop.. And the, remnant scent lasted, 20 years..

All of it unless you have a cite.

the cite was Martin Grime saying dogs cannot distinguish between pig and human cadaver, posted earlier.

All of it unless you have a cite.

The cite comes from the vague statement by Grime about other scenarios that could have caused the alert... It's, a shame he could not have been a little more precise but perhaps, there, are just too many
