I'm probably going over past mentions of this posted on here....sorry....but I'm a newbie here and still working it out to my own satisfaction.
1) If supposedly NB rang JB on the night of the murders from the downstairs phone ( taken from bedroom) Then why didn't NB say anything about being shot at? Yes - obviously JB is not supposed to know his father has been shot...BUT...it stands to reason that if anyone makes a phone call to tell of someone going mad with a gun And having been first shot in bed you would tell the person you're ringing this whilst on kitchen phone, in fact it's more than likely it would be your first words...I've been shot! BUT...of course JB would then be putting himself in the frame with this knowledge if Police found no call was made. That's another reason JB bought the logs... made of the calls... up at his appeals...he'd gone to a lot of trouble covering his back only for the Police to state that only one call was made 'HIS'!
2) Say SC did shoot all her family...why did she wait until one family member has left WHF. It's well known that SC and JB didn't see eye to eye. If she was capable of shooting her father whom she adored, she would have had no concerns about doing the same to JB. Remembering SC was supposed to have gone berserk so not thinking rationally. NO! JB stood to gain everything by killing all of the family in the early hours of the morning when all of them were asleep in bed.
Jeremy hoped that police would believe that Nevill was shot after making the phonecall. The claim that the phone was disconnected was supposed to intimate that Sheila attacked him disconnecting the call and killing him in the kitchen. He hoped police would not figure out that he had been shot in the bedroom. They pieced that together later after the evidence was fully processed.
Later on Jeremy tried putting another thought in the head of police. He suggested Sheila forced Nevill to make the call to lure him there so she could kill him too. Perhaps he hoped they would come to such suspicion on their own based on the scene but they didn't and even his suggestion didn't get the to seriously consider such.
If she had actually opened fire already Nevill would have called 999 requesting an ambulance in addition to police. The notion he would call Jeremy is such situation is not credible but even if he would call Jeremy he would note who had been shot and to summon an ambulance not simply come over himself. Thus he had no choice but to try to pretend Nevill called him before any shots had been fired.
