Please explain why Kate shouldn’t be entitled to see all the information pertaining to the disappearance of her OWN child, in a case which the police saw fit to shelve?

Because she may still be suspected of being involved. In this country you can't ask for FOI's if police are investigating  a suspected crime.

Not would I hesitate to seek as much information as I could from any source if my child was missing.

There's the future to consider too. People would be less likely to come forward, police would be liable to hide sensitive information, no-one would ring Crimestoppers. It was an unworkable idea.

Most of the parents' entitlement was stifled by Portuguese Law & Judicial Secrecy. It must have been awful to be at the mercy of a system so very different to ours in the UK. IMO.

Our system?  what do you mean? they asked LP for access and this was denied.  What kind of information were they seeking and what would they do with that information?
