Do children have a scent?
Can you explain?

When I had a class of children, some smelled of the shampoo used in their hair, some smelled of the washing powder and fabric conditioner used to wash their clothes, sometimes some smelled of a an ointment put on for grazes, some children sadly smelled of unclean bodies and unclean clothes.

What makes up the smell of an individual child?

Is a child born with a scent particular to itself?

If people don't have a scent then tracker dogs are useless.

Thank you for your rather rude and less than helpful reply.

IMO It will be a combination of all the things the child has been in contact with, and what they have eaten recently.

I take it from your response that you have no idea how tracker dogs work.

Therefore not a scent which is only individual to that one child.

And this scent which is a combination of many things will no doubt be recreated on many items belonging to an individual?

The scent of all of those things.

So this scent will be on everything belonging to an individual?
Will siblings have the same scent, until they reach an age where they wear different perfumes, aftershaves, use different hair products, eat different foods etc,?

Would all of Madeleine's clothes and belongings have the same scent?

The dog still alerted to the toy that the missing child's mother had recently washed when it was hidden in the cupboard.

If anyone believes it was washed because it was filthy with suntan lotion, that's their preoperative. But washing her missing daughter's favorite soft toy wasn't Kate McCann's finest hour IMO.

Cuddle cat would smell of Madeleine to begin with, but in a hot country Kates hands would inevitably sweat and before long Madeleines aroma would be drowned out by Kates by now stale sweat and sun cream oil.

Of course she had to wash the toy

Would you wash Cuddle Cat in this instance?

Yes.
If it was dirty and possibly sticky  with sweat and suntan lotion, then I would.

I'm sure there were many items of clothing and belongings of Madeleine which still had her smell.

I have a scent.

I last ate a slice of pizza.

Would the tracker dogs follow my scent, or go off for a slice of pizza?

The number of kids in Luz who had sun tan cream on and who ate high tea is how many?

This idea is nonsensical.

Is this body odour detectable to a human nose.

Maybe I was a bad mother, but my sons all smelled the same when little.
I used the same soaps, same washing products, same shampoos with them all.
Yes I knew the smell of my children but I couldn't identify any particular one by their smell.

Excuse me while I have a chuckle, I'm thinking of my mother in law who had thirteen children.
I wonder if she could identify each one by their smell.
