It has now become very clear why the government blocked the sale of home test kits early on which could have given peace of mind to hundreds of thousands. They have consistently rubbished these kits despite many countries already using them successfully. Many of the kits sent abroad have been designed and manufactured in the UK but despite this the government still refused to purchase them choosing instead to rely on swab tests which require a blood sample to be taken and sent to a laboratory. This process takes up to 2 days to complete before results are sent out to the donor.

This has the potential to backfire big time on the government once people get wise to them.

I don't think the govt have blocked any sales.. I know people who have used them.  The fact is the antibody tests are not reliable.  .Spain has also returned a batch to China and wants a refund

Which type of test are you referring to?

The diagnostic one or the antibody one?

I see what Carana is saying...are you referring to antigen or antibody tests...they are both quite different...you seem to be confusing the two

You’re a proper conspiracy theorist aren’t you?

The best test gives both and can tell you if you have the virus currently or had it and have antibodies in your bloodstream.

What evidence do you have that this test is reliable..... Saying the person selling it says so doesn't count..
i think its safe to say this test is not reliable

I have to agree with you on this one. Despite all the claims of ninety something percent accuracy it has been revealed that the test kits are only effective when used on seriously ill patients.

U.K. Paid $20 Million for New Coronavirus Tests. They Didn’t Work.

Facing a global scramble for materials, British officials bought millions of unproven kits from China in a gamble that became an embarrassment.

The two Chinese companies were offering a risky proposition: two million home test kits said to detect antibodies for the coronavirus for at least $20 million, take it or leave it.

The asking price was high, the technology was unproven and the money had to be paid upfront. And the buyer would be required to pick up the crate loads of test kits from a facility in China.

Yet British officials took the deal, according to a senior civil servant involved, then confidently promised tests would be available at pharmacies in as little as two weeks. “As simple as a pregnancy test,” gushed Prime Minister Boris Johnson. “It has the potential to be a total game changer.”

There was one problem, however. The tests did not work.

Found to be insufficiently accurate by a laboratory at Oxford University, half a million of the tests are now gathering dust in storage. Another 1.5 million bought at a similar price from other sources have also gone unused. The fiasco has left embarrassed British officials scrambling to get back at least some of the money.

“They might perhaps have slightly jumped the gun,” said Prof. Peter Openshaw of Imperial College London, a member of the government’s New and Emerging Respiratory Virus Threats Advisory Group. “There is a huge pressure on politicians to come out and say things that are positive.”

A spokesperson from the Department of Health and Social Care said that the government had ordered the smallest number of tests allowed by the sellers and that it would try to recover the money, without specifying how.

The ill-starred purchases are in some ways a parable of the risks in the escalating scrum among competing governments racing for an edge in the fight against the pandemic.

A malicious prosecution for a crime which never existed. An exposé of egregious malfeasance by public officials.
Indeed, the truth never changes with the passage of time.

Why would anyone worry about a DNA Data Base if they haven't done anything wrong?
