A level playing field?
« on: January 27, 2021, 11:09:24 AM »
The EU were concerned about securing a level playing field in their dealings with the UK post Brexit, but are they playing fair? It seems that they're prepared to interfere in business contracts to serve the interests of it's citizens;

In response to the delays, the EU has said it might restrict exports of vaccines made in the bloc.

I'm sure if the boot was on the other foot we would be doing exactly the same.

I've found it fun too. Membership of the EU was presented as if it was the best thing since sliced bread, but I'm very grateful that the UK was able to organise it's own deals to buy vaccine. Our government was able to act much quicker than those of the EU member states who had to wait for the EU bureaucracy to creak into place. Their reaction to our government's foresight and speed of action was disgraceful imo.

I agree that the EU was slower than the UK, but the UK was prepared to pay a higher price.
The UK got its first massive lot of vaccines in December, i.e. while still in the EU.

Astra Zenica... tell us all again how the EU put money into this project also how they wanted to rush it through as it was very important  to save many millions of lives-oh and tell us how much profit the UK made AND HOW DANGEROUS IT WAS?

For those who seek the truth the answer is: EU put nothing into this, never invested anything, tried to stop it being produced, didn't approve of UK  rushing it through legal routes to be used, lied about the safeness of the drug as apposed to the benefits -then they back tracked!  The AZ was a made not for profit drug. UNLIKE the German one which was being pushed  by.. erm  the EU/  Germans.
