It’s basically undeliverable John. Brexit is anti-growth and until politicians face up to that fact and all the while they continue to pursue economic growth there will always be that conflict of interest, not a good position for the country at all.
India has just overtaken Britain in the GDP rankings. Brexit is a complete distraction, the EU is as screwed as Britain. Germany can't buy Russian gas anymore, which is going to deindustrialise the country. What will that do to their economy?
The emerging world economies such as India, Brazil, South Africa along with the likes of Iran, Saudi Arabia & others, Turkey included, which combined have a significantly larger share of the worlds population than the EU combined, they are all pivoting to Asia. They are actively de-dollarizing. China is building trade routes, Russia are diverting their gas pipes to the global south. There's two things Britain can do to stop from being dragged down by the decline of the U.S dollar hegemony, & that is to switch alliances or take a neutral stance toward the BRICS countries. Not going to happen. Doesn't matter which party you vote for. We are locked into the U.S/EU path, regardless of Brexit. It's a path, through our rejection of all things Russian/Chinese/Iranian & slavishly supporting Ukraine, that leads to very high energy prices & massive inflation, as we are finding out.
