Did M25 rapist kill Billie-Jo Jenkins? Family call for new police probe after fresh revelations.

Vile pervert Antoni Imiela lived near the Hastings home Billie-Jo shared with foster dad Sion when she was killed 15 years ago.

At the time of Billie-Jo’s murder, Imiela only had convictions for armed robbery and theft in 1997 and his name never came up as a potential sex attacker.

But police were unaware the psychopath had brutally raped Sheila Jankowitz, 29, at South London in 1987.

The mum-of-two was murdered in South Africa in 2006. But Imiela was convicted at the Old Bailey last month of her rape thanks to DNA and caged for 12 years.

The court heard he dragged Sheila on to waste ground where he battered her and threatened to kill her with a brick.

Police were also unaware Imiela knew the park opposite the home Billie-Jo shared with Sion and Lois Jenkins and their daughters Annie, 12, Lottie, 10, Esther, nine, and Maya, seven.

The youngster had complained to friends about being stalked by a man in a leather jacket from December 1996.

Imiela’s neighbours confirmed he wore such an item of clothing at the time.

Billie-Jo was battered to death at around 3.30pm on Saturday, February 15, 1997, when the rapist had already become a regular visitor to Hastings, which is 20 miles from Appledore.

His unsuspecting girlfriend Christine had lived two roads away from the victim’s home. At the time she would visit her cousin Clare Wilson’s home regularly which was less than two miles away.

Imiela moved to Appledore in 1996 after eight years in jail for armed robbery. His confidence and easy charm attracted Christine who was working as cleaner in the home of deputy mayor Barry Wright where the rapist was lodging.

They became lovers while she was living with her husband and married in 1997. Imiela ran a bric-a-brac shop in Rye, 12 miles from Hastings, before moving into Christine’s home.

Billie-Jo was attacked while she was alone at the family’s six-bedroom house. That afternoon Lois had taken Esther and Maya for a walk on the beach while Sion took Annie and Lottie to the Do-It-All store to get white spirit.

On their return Lottie screamed “Dad! Billie’s hurt!” There was thick blood around Billie-Jo’s skull which had been shattered by at least nine blows from the tent spike weighing 1.5lb. The killer left the murder weapon beside her body.

Sion told the emergency services, in a call timed at 3.38pm: “My daughter’s fallen, or she’s got head injuries, there’s blood everywhere, she’s on the floor.”

He was arrested nine days later and was found guilty at Lewes crown court on July 2, 1998.

The prosecution had no motive or witnesses to the attack and claimed it had occurred in a three minute period while Mr Jenkins was away from Annie and Lottie.

He was accused of battering Billie-Jo during an argument before driving the girls to the DIY store.

But doubts lingered over the forensic evidence, lack of motive and the suspicion Billie-Jo had been attacked by a stalker.

At the trial friends said the Jenkins’ were so worried about prowlers they had security lights and window locks fitted.

Dog The Bounty Hunter:
I've always said that Sion was fitted up for murdering adopted daughter Billie Jo.  I also think that his ex wife has a lot to answer for in all of this since she had it in for him from the very beginning.

How many times was it they tried him?   Three I think if my memory serves me correctly and even then the jury couldn't agree.  They even denied him compensation saying that he has not been cleared.  What a bunch of hero's our Crown Office prosecutors are.

I think Sion Jenkins was very shabbily treated by all concerned including his own wife.  Didn't Lois Jenkins clear off to the Australian island state of Tasmania 4 years after the trial.  She took no part in the trial even though a key witness but flew back to the UK seven years after the murder to be a prosecution witness.  She also gave evidence for the prosecution at each of the next two re-trials, doing so by video link at the first one and then flying back to the UK to appear at the second one when the CPS were struggling to maintain credibility....they lost AGAIN!  It appears she had plenty to say on the last occasion....what changed??
