Nora was sleeping in the same room as her younger siblings and her parents were in a bedroom a few feet away.

She was discovered missing by her father Sebastien at around 8am and a downstairs door was wide open.

They have told police they did not hear anything and there were no signs of a struggle.

The only clue to the teen's disappearance was an open ground floor window, which police believe she climbed out and then wandered into the jungle.

One theory is that she woke up early jet lagged after her 12hour flight from London and, disorientated at being in a strange bedroom, got up and left.

Police have said there is no sign of any intruder entering the property.

They have not found any footprints inside the villa or forensic evidence to suggest an unknown person was inside.

The entire area around the villa where the family were staying is covered with soggy vegetation and the single-track road leading to the resort is covered with mud.

Had someone entered through the window and climbed a flight of stairs to an upstairs bedroom where Nora was sleeping it is assumed there would have been traces of mud on the floor.

It is because of the lack of evidence of any crime that police are treating the case as primarily that of a missing person.

Sounds plausible, however please note: the parents are convinced she was abducted.

Increasingly I’m put in mind of this case, I do hope for the family’s sake the case is resolved, preferably with a happy reunion, and that it is solved soon.

An open window and open door would suggest that if those facts are true. She would exit through the door so why open a window?

The Times 2 days ago said the downstairs door was locked.

'The front door of the family’s chalet was locked but a downstairs window was found open.'

Thanks and there should be fingerprints on the window if she opened it and left.

It's difficult to know which report to believe.

Was the front door open or not?

I'm inclined to believe the initial reports that only the window was open because otherwise her parents wouldn't have ruled out her wandering off so soon.
I think the Daily Mail may have made a mistake.

A forensics team has been examining the prints, and cops confirmed last week they believed Nora could only have left the property through that window.

After it was found propped open, her family said it would have been impossible for Nora to have opened it on her own.

"Only the glass window exit was used. We are certain about this," a police officer told Malaysian media earlier today.

Interior shot of the window.

Note that the sill is very low so might possibly be easy to step out of.

But the area outside apparently was wet & muddy according to the report PF posted earlier & no muddy footprints were found.
The floor tiles are white so footprints would be obvious imo.
Likewise though, if the area is muddy, why weren't any footprints found outside the window.
It's a pretty narrow window by the looks of it. I still can't imagine anyone being able to carry her out of it.

Malays never enter a house with their shoes on, sandals or flip flops would be taken off before entering, no mud. Why do you insist she was carried, not frog-marched out of the house?

Interesting comment on tripadvisor (and borne out by all the photos)

“Sora House is really open to nature with the entire front of the house facing the forest (completely open, no way to close even at night).”
